Conceição Estudante got reunited with the secretary of State of the MOPTC

The Governments of Autonomus Regional Madeira and Portuguese Republic and are in complete agreement respecting the rightnesss made in the diploma considered by the European Union for liberalization of the aerial linkings between the airports of the continent and the Autonomous Region of the Wood.

Conceição Estudante, regional secretary of the Tourism and Transports, was in the past Friday in Lisbon, where she met with Paulo Campos, secretary of State of the Ministry of the Public works, Transports and Comunications (MOPTC), having been followed by Luis Santos Costa, regional secretary of the Social Equipment, that in the previous government had the guardianship of the Transports.

Conceição Estudante told us the meeting went well, having itself verified agreement of points of view between the two parts, with a total sucess of the suggestions that had been presented by Madeira, in the sequence of the report of a work group nominated in 2005 for such effect.

Thus, it waits that in next period IATA, from end of September, that this new legislation is already being applied,  that foresees the direct attribution for resident passengers or students of a fixed subsidy for trip, that will have to be fixed in 60 euros for go around trip, in any one of the company that if presents to fly the lines between the continent and the two islands of the Autonomous Region. As we have already notified, one foresees that this measure encourages the coming of more company for this service, nominated of foreign register, in European countries, that will be able to accede to these lines of more easy form, since it will not have obligations utility. The transporters will be able to still use airplanes of lesser capacity - the legislation in vigor compels to fly with devices with capacity above of the 90 passengers - what it will become more tempting, for example the routes for the Port Santo.

The liberalization of the domestic linkings for the airports of the Autonomous Regions will not have, in a first phase, to provoke a descending in the price of the trips, knew next to the company aerial national that are in the line, now reduced to International TAP and SATA. However, it is probable that in the periods of lesser search they excite the creation of campaigns, nominated through the Internet sites of these companies.

The possibility of having cheaper flights will happen with the entrance of low cost companies in the route. One waits with some expectation the negotiations that are in course with some of these companies. From its entrance and with the appearance of national competition it is natural that the company reviews its tariffs.

The liberalization will have some temporary inconveniences for passengrs accustomed to constant changes in dates of its travels. Thus, the ones that benefit of the subsidy, for being resident or students, will travel with fixed dates, whose alteration will be penalized. The new tariff system implies diverse types of tariff, without tax limit, in accordance with the search and offers of the market. Thus, while waiting that other companies show interest in the lines between airports of the continent and Madeira, it is natural that in the periods of bigger search the prices are higher, while the passenger will receive an amount a fixed and not percentage from the price of the ticket paid, as it happens currently. The new system of subsidiation to the passenger encloses all the national airports in territory of the continent, since that they have direct flights for the archipelago.

Another talked question in the meeting of the Madeira regional secretaries with the secretary of State of the MOPCT was of the privatization of ANA, whose process was launched in January together with of the construction of the New Airport of Lisbon. The recend situation has evolved in perspective of delay in relation to Ota, for what the MOPTC will go to present a proposal to the Regional Government, that will be able to contemplate an eventual alienation of the quota of the Region in the ANAM, company concessionaire of the Airports of  Madeira.
