Flogger not logging

I think that is a good item for the FAQ or Knowledge Base.
Has EHM considered an alternative Acars application, one that is more reliable than the one I use (with me it crashes 2 out of 5 times when SUBMITTING PIREP). Always with some cryptic numeric error.
At Virtual Pilots the have a deal with the people of FS Acars so that members that are registered for more than N months can get it at a discount. Yet members are not forced to acquire it. Anyway, just got into my mind again after it crashed yet again :)

Didimo,
Why do I have a feeling of deja vu here!!!!!
Flight logger was designed for FS2002 originally and was upgraded through FS2004... It will work with Vista and FSX, albeit with some quirks that are not terminal! The only way to iron these issues out is by a complete recoding of flight logger but of course, you are already aware that we are recoding the flight logger aren't you????
The current Flight logger was revolutionary for it's time and when the new flogger sees the light of day I am sure it will be equally well received as it predecessor was, please just hold tight and bare with us! (as with everything to do with Flight Simulator we are not going to commit to a timescale but I can assure you it is a long way off still!)
We will never offer a service that requires a pilot to purchase "PAYWARE" addons. (although where possible we support payware aircraft but there is always a freeware alternative) As I am aware FSACARS is freeware although it is also discontinued and will not be supported anymore in its current version, certainly not for VISTA and FSX so it would be quite pointless us making the switch especially as our flight logger was around before FSACARS was. (BTW FSACARS 5 is not due out this year either!)

I have to restart flogger every flight and im using xp and FS9. It wont do a second love even if i sacrifice 3 goats to it. :S
The problem might be on flogger.

Same here, but only Vista & FS9 ... Not a real problem IMHO..
Other then that FLogger works like a charm for me ;)

Hmm... K, so it's a "feature" some of us have and other don't, and overall not a real problem for most of us. As Phil rightly points out, FL3 was started a good few years ago and had to be compatible with both old and new FS (at that time...) Frankly, I'm pleased it works at all with FSX.
Interesting to get a feel for the spread though, we can take this on board for the FL4 feature list.

I'm using XP & FS9 and this also happened to me in the past. The first time I discovered that flogger didn't log my second flight was when I wanted to submit my pirep for that flight. First I didn't understand what was wrong but a couple of days later when I started my second flight that day, the green bar didn't appear at the top of my screen after starting my engines. I looked in flogger and I saw it was not logging that flight. After restarting flogger it started logging and I knew what I did "wrong" the other day.
Now I'm used to a couple of extra clicks, maybe it's better this way.

I think it is safer, so your logs will not mix in any way because of an unwanted engine start or badly scheduled fuel filling or such. To be honest I do not see why those some clicks make so much problem. ;)

I think the current flogger is very user-friendly. I hope the new/updated version will work as easy as the current one.
EHM-2198 Didimo:
My point has been that a program that is well designed would properly handle its exceptions rather than doing the crash and burn thing. FL often crashes with "Error <place a number here)" for simple things that could have been easily avoided with:
a) more error checking
b) better error handling
Those are crucial things that every person that is serious about software development is. I have been in the IT profession for 18 years, I know what I am talking about.
Because it is free? no excuse mates, I also developed freeware for good many years and I never followed that line of thought that because I was not profiting financially (even for the support) I did not care about solving the issues.
Sorry if I am stepping on somebody's toes here but s/w development IS my passion.
