The EuroBusiness Fly-In is coming and some of you may be wondering how to safely fly the steep approach into EGLC...

Well by a lucky chance, the March edition of Airlines Today magazine is just out and contains a feature all about A318's and London City airport

Please note that this article is based on real world procedures and a specific auto-flight "steep approach" programme that is not available in MSFS! I have tested the approach in our A318 Elite with the speedbrake handle set manually at about 50% (as spoilers don't seem to raise at all before this setting) and it works well BUT this is an unusual approach and I advise you to practice it a few times until you feel confident.

Do not feel obliged to use the speedbrakes in this way - just make sure your approach is slow enough and you have autobrakes set, spoilers armed and you are ready to engage reverse thrust! The runway IS short so don't float above it.

It's a fantastic approach when you get it right so please... PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE !!

Somehow the current brake config is not efficient on the BabyBus. Editing the following line in the Aircraft.cfg will surely give more chances to stop:

toe_brakes_scale=1.00

I tried the approach and it is scary !!! 2000', 160kts, flaps down, gears down, the runway is ahead with 4 red lights... then the runway disappears from the horizon "below" us and I am watching the ILS... and it suddenly starts running downward. A/P off, A/T off, bowing, and sinking with an extreme descend rate And it is a bit hard to catch her up at the touchdown.
