X-plane and Euroharmony

What do you want to fly tomorrow?

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently the focus of the airline, and should be popular with pilots for years to come, but as the latest version of Flight Simulator has superceded the version before, so will come a time when you may wish to move on to the next big thing or fly more than one simulator.

Unfortunately, with the closure of Microsoft Flight Simulator, the next big thing is not very clear. At this point, we don't know what you will want to fly a few years from now. What we do know, is that fewer and fewer of you will pick FS9 and FSX exclusively.

It could be the planned Aerosoft Simulator, or the recently announced Microsoft Flight, or these simulators could end up never making it to market.

You may have seen both software and hardware add-on makers introducing support for, or porting products to be compatible with X-Plane in order to keep options open and tap new markets. This is what EuroHarmony intends to do now, expanding our support so you can enjoy flight simming with us, both now and in the future.

As our main development priority is on what you are flying now, X-Plane support will be a gradual roll-out, with our Flight Logger tool supporting use of the sim, and a gradual introduction of fleet repaints for the simulator.

X-Plane may or may not be the market leading flight simulator on personal computers a few years from now, but it is the leading flight simulator in development on the PC today, with a growing add-on market, and with version 10 being scheduled for a Christmas 2010 release.

X-Plane is a different sim to MSFS, with different strengths and weaknesses. In some areas, it surpasses MSFS, and in others, it falls short. However, many shortfall areas are being rapidly addressed both by the development team and the add-on market developers and it is a very enjoyable sim to fly.

While we expect that very few, if any of our pilots currently exclusively run X-Plane or other general flight simulators, we have created a poll and thread, to provide an opportunity for you to express an interest in these other platforms, ask questions and get some comparisons of strengths and weaknesses between MSFS and X-Plane.
