Hefty on the price, that's true.
But still, I'm going to buy this one once I get back home :)

That price is eye-watering.

Seriously.

And it is suffering a lot of teething problems judging from what I can see on the support forums.

**edit**I'm still gonna get it....what a gorgeous aircraft  :D

In UK money, thats the same price as a wilco add on.

I don't think, considering the systems fidelity, that is unreasonable.

http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/crj200first-flight/

Now, I can only agree with what's said there, although in my one: read nothing, set nothing fly around so far, I had x-plane CTD with no notice after about 10/15mins. Need to see what's going on there - word is - get the x737 out of the aircraft folder.

Will see how she goes stability wise, but this plane flies like butter.

I haven't touched on the systems, but compared to our freeware there's just no contest. This feels expensive. It's like getting into a PMDG, and then finding that the flight model is superb (it's x-plane after all - silky smooth and none of those weird jerky flightpath adjustments I've seen in the PMDG MD11) and your frames are still fluid.

First impressions: This definately feels like a pro product - you know how the doors have a solid thunk when you close them, and the leather has that smell and feel to it?

I do need to adjust the first setting for pilotview plugin (which has a file premade) and sometimes I need to zoom in more to see the displays better, but this is a plane I am glad to own.

More once I have properly flown with procedures and then updated the navigraph data.

Well, my first attempt to run X-Plane post install resulted in a huge hang up when the x737 was being interrogated, so like you say, I think I need to "remove" that first.

Need to fly the first leg of the event first though, so that'll have to be in FSX...

Here's a free sound replacement for the runway roll by one of the best sound engineers on the scene.

http://sound4xplane.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/artymowicz-aviation-crj-200-runway-roll-replacement-sound/

Its a vast improvement over the cheap and tacky sounding shudders, creaks and cateye rollovers that ship with the plane.

Heads up that the x737 crash issue also affects XPUIPC.

It's apparently fixed in the next patch, but obviously this is a deal breaker at the moment as this is needed for flogger.

This needs an immediate sorting out. I'll be doing the legs with the FSX version which I am downloading/installing as we speak. Hope I can fly it lol  :D

Hooray the FSX version works...although it crashed FSX when I ended the flight.

I swear once that ATR72-500 gets released I am quitting FSX for good....well....maybe. The funny thing is I also have FS9 installed and running although have not messed with it much....could use it as backup to X-plane. At least my add-on write-off for FSX will be a couple hundred bucks versus the thousands others have spent trying to get that rubbish bit of code to work properly  :P :D

I just received an email from J. Rollon, telling me that an update for the X-Aviation X-Plane  CRJ-200 is now available for purchasers (No doubt the standard install will be updated soon too ;))
According to the change log, all known plugin incompatibilities (like X737, XUIPC) are now fixed...
Can't wait to install tonight ;)

EDIT: downloading now; It's a 370MB download, so I guess it's pretty much a complete new install ...

looks like I've got my x-plane issues sorted (something to do with my windows profile - go figure, created a new profile and the problem dissappeared) amd now that the 1.1 patch is out solving the xpuipc crash issue, I've started playing with this bird.

WOW. Obviously you can't compare this to the now aged freeware we have for FSX, but the rest of my propilot event is going to be a fabulous improvement. I love this freaking plane, more than the wonderful Dash-8, more than my PMDG MD11 and even more than my AirbusX.

It's currently at the top of my list.

I just wish my HARDWARE would work with it as using the VC for everything is a pain in the ass when I have dials on my desk. Get on the case VRInsight!

I also wish the serious money I spent on OrbX sceneries in the sale could be enjoyed on X-plane, but still there's always the PMDG 737 NGX or the ifly version to tide me over until the 737 classic due out for x-plane xmas 2011 / early 2012.

I had the 1.1 version crash on me (CTD, I mean ;)) twice this evening, but only when using Flogger. Otherwise no issues, but I did not have any real issues to begin with.
I'll only be able to play around again on Sunday evening at the earliest, and I'm calling it a day for today.

Did you use FLogger already, Alexander? I thought (hoped) this CTD would be the now solved XUIPC issue, but for me it does not seem to work yet.

I'll try a fresh install next time around, maybe that  will help.

What in your profile do you think was bothering X-Plane / CRJ-200?

I haven't used Flogger yet, but I had XPUIPC installed during my flight and was running FSCommander over XWideFS (during which there was a CTD but may be due to my overclock as I do get them from time to time in FSX as well).

The CTD was after quite a while and I haven't tested enough to see if this is a problem or a random event. I was alos running the VRInsight plugin which attempts to write to default datarefs (dangerous with this plane I understand).

At the moment I'm looking into an autosave feature similar to in FSUIPC where the flight is saved every few minutes and can be resumed in the event of a crash.

I have reported your issue on x-pilot, gave details of flogger and a download link and said that I'll create the devs a test account if they want to test it.

OK from my testing today it looks like the following:

- Running XPUIPC in your plugins folder does not cause a crash like it did in 1.0
- Running XPWideClient does not cause a crash
- Running an app that interfaces with XPUIPC does cause x-plane to crash.

Hope they get this sorted - the two apps I have tried are FSCommander and EHM Flogger 4.1.3, but it's obviously XPUIPC not the apps causing the problems.

My best guess is that this will happen at the moment the app tries to send a message through XPUIPC to the sim, like "Flight state: Taxi", and the sim is supposed to display that on screen.  The two CTDs I had would then be attributable to starting to taxi (I had the whole FMS setup done and done already. Twice ;) )
On the other hand; "www.Saveyourflight.de" (another logger that uses the (XP)UIPC interface) does the same, and sends an "Off Blocks" message to the screen as soon as the parking brakes are released. That must have happened before the X-Plane CTD...
Next week, Ill fly a short hop with only saveyourflight, and no Flogger, just to see if it is only Flogger for me.

It is no more than that, a guess, though ;)

I don't think so - don't forget that whatever messages hit x-plane are only to XPUIPC and the crashes do not coincide for me with the exact points that on screen messages are transmitted. I get the crash with just Flogger connected and just XPUIPC connected.

On a side note looks like they just burned Capnsully (one of the xplane10blog guys) by refusing his refund request - his problem is related to the C++ redistributable and he can't get the plane to work 1.0 or 1.1 A stark contrast with Just Flight's 28 day no quibble refund policy on a chap that has spent a huge amount of time making promotional vids of their products off his own back.

I saw a post over at x-pilot stating that a fix for the xpuipc incompatibility was on the horizon and that it was a bug in XPUIPC not the CRJ to do with threading.

Eagerly awaiting the next XPUIPC release.

Quote
We had an intensive debugging session together with Torsten "Spyy", the developer of XPUIPC. We found that the underlying issue as a problem of XPUIPC, not of the CRJ.
In short, XPUIPC is doing something that is illegal in the first place, but as long as there is little load to X-Plane, it still works. So nobody ever noticed XPUIPC is doing something illegal. Now the CRJ exploits X-Plane's limits in various ways. It stays within what is legal, but to its maximum extend. And now the error in XPUIPC is revealed and leads to the crash.
Think of it like a street with cars parked at the streetside. There is a white line on the concrete separating the road from the parking cars. This white line is clearly specified by the X-Plane SDK. XPUIPC is parked slightly across this line. If you drive a Beetle through the street, nothing happens. If you drive a big truck through it, XPUIPC gets bumped and scratched badly although the truck doesn't touch the white line.
As soon as there are more projects in X-Plane behaving like big trucks, more errors like these are going to surface in software you now believe works perfectly.

We provided Torsten with all the necessary information to fix this issue, along with a developer copy of the CRJ to test things. I'm sure he will come up with a solution soon and park XPUIPC again in the right place.

That's very interesting and enlightening. Just have to wait for the new version I guess (might get to use the XPCRJ for the last leg at this rate ;))
