C2 at EPWA - Tuesday 2000Z IVAO
« on: December 06, 2004, 08:36:40 am »
Hi all,

tomorrow (Tuesday 7th) I will have a C2 exam at EPWA, starting at 2000Z. Please fly to/from EPWA if it's possible, if I don't get enough traffic, the exam will be cancelled. Tuesday is a sort of European on-line day on IVAO so there will be many ATC in Europe; just pick some scheduled EHM flight from anywhere in Europe to EPWA.

charts: http://www.ivao.org.pl/charts.htm

Thanks,
Gergely

oh yes, it isn't me who takes the exam, I will be the examiner for the exam... :8 and we need traffic because this exam was already cancelled once... not many people flying in Poland on IVAO.

Two birds with one stone (or two exams with one flight...) I'll be flying EGLL-EPWA (EHM-5054)

RouteFinder has given me the following route:

EGLL SID BPK UM185 CLN UL620 BASNO UL603 ARNEM UG9 ETEBO UL980 CZE UP150 DODEK STAR EPWA

I'll be flying it in the B738 (wish PMDG would hurry up and release their 747...), crz not lower FL380, departing c.1900Z.

Just landed and filed my two PIREPs, and I'm OBS at EPWA to get the result.

Interesting flight over, got some right strange headwinds that Ben didn't (was behind me right until the border between EDBB and EPWW, then I had to execute a series of turns to allow him passed as he was a bucket load faster than me...), and great to see so many EHMs in the air (meself, Ben, Cyriel, AlexB, probably another one or two that I didn't notice for long enough to make a note...)

Reason for the post though, and it's one for all your PMDG 73X aces out there: how to you get the FMC to execute a specific hold? EPWA_APP had us holding over LIN VOR, and if it hadn't been for FSNav I'd have been in right trouble (as it was, the best I could get FSN to do was display the hold and I manually made the MCP fly it)

I've seen "hold at"s in the flight plans in the PMDG FMC, but I cannot see from the manual how to program one...

EDIT: Hang on, think I've been blind... the manaul makes mention of a "hold" key.

Yep it was a good night for EHM. Did the people doing the exams's pass? I had a lot of trouble with take off at EGLL. Actually I almost crahsed the plane:$, please don't ask what happened:$. But with excellent piloting skills I managed to keep it in the air:o

At EPWA I had to hold twice which actually also thought me a lot. It was the first time ever I had to hold over a VOR and then twice in one flight!

Anyhow many ehm planes in the air same as with my exam. It looks like exams is what is needed to get us flying togehter online. Still have to file my pireps though.

Murray I noticed strong winds at the border between EDBB_CTR and EPWW_CTR as well... I was flying at FL270.

Cyriel, yep I was on hold over KRN for a while as well... plus I had problems on final because APP passed me to TWR but teamspeak wouldnt get onto his channel (thats because he had left the channel, as I found out after vacating the rw over text comm).

Good to see EHM planes back in the air!

Alex;)

I was getting a 25-40kt cross wind almost the entire journey (FL370) and that became a 50+kt headwind at the EDBB/EPWW border... Ben got a tailwind most of the way until the EDBB/EPWW border, and he was at the same CRZ as me...

Hi all,

thanks for your assistance during the exam, I hope it was fun for you too. :)
Both the C1 and C2 were a success, C2 received 88/100 points. He was calm and professional even in complicated situations, but he was over-cautious on separation... instead of vectoring everyone for the approach in a row, he put everyone in hold and let the planes one by one to the airport...

Gergely

Good news :) With those stupid AI pilots in FS, usually 5 nm of gap is enough for separations. What is the situation in real life, or at on-line flying?
