First steps: lots of problems...
« on: January 22, 2005, 10:24:25 pm »
Hi all,

after about 50 hours of online flying on VATSIM/FS2002 last year, now I returned to the playground with IVAO/FS2004.

First of all, I do not know why, but now, my good old ServInfo cannot download any server information. It does not matter if it is 2.01 or 2.02. I have a clean XP and FS install. Although I use Kerio firewall...can it be a problem?

Then I installed IVAP and cannot use it. I also cannot find the IVAP users guide, where to download from... When I am inside the game, I got 3 green lamps out of 4, and when I hit the Connect button it always say me : "Enter valid aircraft type"

So, at the moment I stucked here, and hate Mr Murphy very, very much :@ :@ :@

Can you help me ?

Hi Robert,

Not sure about your servinfo problem, but IvAp....... You should start with 3 green lights when it has 'warmed up', it should also say offline and you may have a red 'FP' signalling no FP filed.
Before you can connect you have to file a flighplan first (ACARS>FILE FLIGHTPLAN) the very first time you use IvAp. This is so other a/c see you as the correct plane.  Once you have made one, you can connect fine (in theory ;))
After the first time, it will save the last flightplan so you can connect straight away and create the flightplan once connected.

The manual can be found at http://www.ivao.org/softdev/IvAp/IvAp_manual.asp

Hope to see you Wednesday :]

PS. I think we are supposed to hate Murphy:$;)

If You use a proxy, check the Servinfo settings in Options > Connection Parameters.

No, I do not use proxy, I am hanging on a Broadband cable-modem, with Kerio personal firewall. It does not matter if I switch off, or exit from the firewall, ServInfo does not work at all.

Good news is, I could finally connect to the IVAO network with IVAP. Although I have not flew, I tried out the program and I like it very much! I think VATSIM need to run faster to catch IVAO :)

And thanks for the Users Guide link...I was searching it for minutes but could not find a link to that page.

Robert... try any reasonably large german airport, you dont need ServInfo to know that!;D

Besides the point, I tried ServInfo and Whazzup at the beggining and chose ServInfo because I think it is much more user-friendly.
