Title: Tu-204
Post by: EHM-1388 Tiberiu on May 15, 2004, 08:14:21 pm
I was just thinking about the Tu-204 myself... but wouldn't they be better suited for cargo operations? I mean I know there really are a few flying cargo.
But it's great to have them in our fleet, I can't wait to get my hands on it... when will it be ready?

The Tu-204 is a class 6 aircraft and we now have the A310-200F freighter for the Eurocargo class 6.
The A310 is a widebody aircraft so it is more suited for wide shaped cargo.

Yes, it is used at some airlines as a cargo plane. But after it got the new Rolls Royce engines, it became a real competitor to the B752 and A321 middle range jets.

I just did not want to use another Boeing or another Airbus in the fleet. Although, if the 7E7 was available, there would not be a question. Release date is unknown, I hope it will be ready within 1-2 weeks.

Robert, I know you already have a lot on your hands, and I wouldn't want to increase you work load, but do you have any plans of painting the rest of our fleet for Project AI models?

Does anybody know some good models for the TU-204, coz I only got a model for AI (which seems a bit (<-understatement) unflyable). But for AI-purposes it is great.

- OOPS. It seems that I didn't read the thread about the TU-204 before I posted this message. ;D

Of course I have plans to make all planes for ProjectAI models. But now the priority is 1 for EuroBusiness.

I posted the brand new TU204 repaints on the announcement section. Since you cannot reply there, it is a good place to post your feedback. And it is really appreciated ;)

About the model, it is made by Robert Versluys. I tested it many times and I like it very much. He copied the dynamics from a B752, so this plane is very handly. I modified the fuel and passenger load parameters and the plane become so "empty" that it can take-off even with half thrust from Meigs-Field, where a similar size jet would sunk. It is finely manouverable like a fighter plane. The only disadantage maybe is the too strong engine, so at landings you need to apply airbrakes more than at a usual plane.

Sounds great!

Keep up the good work Roberto!

Yes the plane is very close to B752 in shape, size and flight characteristics to the TU204. The TU204 have the same Rolls Royce RB211 engines too. I guess that is why the modeler choosen the B752 dynamics as base.
