Dear pilots,
We proudly announce the Croisère Noire ProPilot Event!
This new event will takes us to the heart of Africa, from North to South!
Any doubts, please post here.
Attention: The airplane will be a Beech 1900D and not the Junkers
-
yay, can hardly wait for it to start ! :>
-
That's interesting. Any date already setup ? When do you think you will post more details ?
Looking forward.
Cheers
-
Hi Christophe,
The start date is early January. The first leg is at 5th January.
-
I'm going to be quite busy next year, so i'll have to see how long each flight is. Anyone has any idea how long it takes the Ju52 to fly 500nm? :]
-
Bad for me. I will be working in Suriname during January and February. At this time I am not sure whether I can be able to fly during that period.
-
Ah sorry!
The airplane is not going to the Junkers!
IT's going to be a Beech 1900D.
-
count me in guys! looking forward to it....
:)

Thats a pitty, I really looked forward to fly the Junkers again :[
How long do I have time to register for the event? Pherhaps I´m going to join.
regards
Manuel
-
Until the end of December.
-
I think the DC-3 would more in line with the spirit of the event.
(could not resist to give my 2cents :))
I'll try to be there, family and work leaving me some spare time.
-
Is there a FSX compatible version of the Beech 1900? The Euroharmony model is not compatible.
-
Hi Desmond,
on avsim.com you can find some. Furthermore you can import the PMDG Model
into FSX, if you own one.
-
Thanks, downloaded the Vorona Beech from Avsim. Seems to work well.
-
Hi Desmond,
We are trying to have the FSX version with the PP texture as soon as possible.
-
Dear pilots,
We already have all airplanes prepared!
FSX and FS9 for both EHM and PMDG versions! Took us some time, but it's finished ;D
Tomorrow we will post them on the Events page, and I will announce here when it's done.
Regards and sorry for the delay.
-
Hi mates,
The airplane has been released! Check it out ;) ...
Don´t forget to add your airplane on the aircraft.cfg.
-
great paintwork :> looking forward to the event!! merry Christmas All
-
Good paint! Like it very much!
Newbie Question: how does this work exactly?
1- It's a PP event, so I'll have to use PP to lock a flight, and Flight Logger to record and file my PIREPS
2- since PP flights keep track of where an a/c stays overnight, I'll have to somehow lock a plane to my ID? Otherwise someone else could move it for me, and I would be lost without transportation in the middle of the desert. We wouldn't want that to happen now, would we? Or are there just a whole lot of B1900D's sitting in DAOO, that can only be locked for a Croissiere Noir flight (which would be the same for destination 2 a few days later, and destination 3 a few days after that)?
3-Are event flights meant to be made on-line, or is that at pilot's discretion? On a flight-to-flight basis? As a group flight perhaps?
4-Are there prefered routes, or do we make them up as we go?
5-Who is gonna be dissappointed (mad at me) when I discover half way through the event that it is taking up too much of my free time, and decide to spend it otherwise? (apart from myself for not comitting, and not receiving a wonderful badge;), of cause).
I think I will want to start the event, but I'm not sure I can make all flights within the set time restrictions.
-
Eric-Jan,
In order ('cause I might as well...)
1. Yes, exactly.
2. The PP event system that was developed at the start of 200(8?7?) takes care of someone else locking your plane (by flat stopping it... you get a personal and private B1900D for the event). Even if someone does manage to lock your plane, there are always standby aircraft available and a management team that keeps on top of such things ;)
3. By tradition, we hold an online "fly-in" for the first leg, then it's up to the pilot. I like to fly PP events online and with real-world weather, others are happy to fly the event "offline" (being PP, you currently require an active Internet connection while flying so our server can "spy on you" ;) but you don't need to be on IVAO/VATSIM unless you want to be)
4. Depends on the event. There'll be a suggested route (no doubt) but as with all such things, if you go a different route, good for you.
5. Only you Eric-Jan, only you. We've gotten events down to a fine art now; planning them (and participating, of course) is what takes all the time, assigning aircraft etc takes a few hours only and is done but once.
Oh, and put me on the "list" for the event please Bruno... I'll see if I can't make time to participate.
-
I've looked through the dates and i should be able to fly them all (hopefully!). sign me up! (I already sent a mail to Bruno too)
-
OK, got my plane reserved.
I'm in!
See yáal up there!:>
-
I'll try to do my first event and start my PP career, so count me in.
Bruno, could you reserve me one B1900, please
See you all, soon
-
By the way: thanks Murray, for your quick response to all my questions. When I started typing that the last time, my computer went dead, and I never got around to thanking you again.
As you can see from my previous post: it all worked out, and I'm joining this event.
I took the PMDG B1900D for a spin this morning. pictures can be seen at the ivao forum (for those who have access) at
IVAO picture thread (http://forum.ivao.aero/index.php/topic,96247.0.html)
Might take some time to load; they are 20 pics of 1280x1024
Did not feel like compressing them all to post on the EHM screenshots page, so I'll probably make a small selection for that soon.
Love the paint!
-
NP Eric-Jan, it's my job (as an MT member)
Love the pictures (even if they are taking an age to DL on my parents DSL) - my personal congratulations to whomever it was that did the repaint; it looks stunning. I noticed that the zebra stripes on the bottom of the B1900D aren't just a mirror image left and right... excellence in the detail.
-
Could you please add me to this event.
There was an eMail adress you should write to but I kind find it anymore. Sorry must be blind :$
Thanks and have a happy new year!
-
"Officially" speaking Sven, if you wish to participate you should fire a quick email to Bruno - bruno@fly-euroharmony.com.

Hi, Luis:
Nice work there! How I wish I could fly this event. I feel so envious now after seeing your presentation...
-
Now that we start heading south: charts for a.o. Mali, Chad, and enroute charts can be found here:
http://www.ais-asecna.org/en/index.htm
Undoubtedly, there are more sources for charts, but I just happened to stumble upon this one, and I did not want to withhold it from you.

Anyone that's not completed the first leg yet, and likes to fly with real-world weather (like I do, ASA in my case) there were some big storms near the coast on my run down just now; cruising at FL190 and having to contend with heavy turb due to the thunderheads.
Looking forward to Saturday and Leg 2 though :)
-
Leg two real-world weather report for those of you setting off today, there's a fairly strong (50kts+) wind at FL190 brg 240 or thereabouts and it's got moderate turbulance in it. Cloud cover hasn't been at all bad the entire leg and there's no precipitation.
For those running ASA already (Active Sky Advanced) I've submitted a WXPIREP about the turb (there now being 3 WXPIREPs mentioning turb in the locality). It's worth noting that FSX's Flight Planner has sent me a really strange route, but it does mean I'm now inbound to DATM from TMS (over 250nm!) which basically means it's a straight-on 50kts+ headwind :)
Good luck everyone yet to fly this leg.
-
Mmmmm...
flew leg 2 yesterday (sunday 11th), and had some bad turbulence at FL190 indeed.
I managed to collect 400+500=900 PP "points" because of it.
All because of escessive G-forces! This while my landing was a smooth-as-silk one, according to X-Pax with 130 ft/min. vertical speed. I usually bump on the tarmac with 500 to 1000 ft/min. (I still am learning how to fly...;D)
The bright side is: I got my landing lights and baro settings right this time, so there is progress!
See y'all for leg 3. I am planning to do that on tuesday, take-off around 19:00(Z). Anyone care to join?
-
Tell me about it E-J, I pulled -290 for an overspeed but I'd swear I was below 220kts the whole way. Such is life as a ProPilot :)
If you want to make your life a little easier, get Werner Schott's free B1900D checklist for flight sim usage. http://freechecklists.net/simchecklists.asp
-
Just before 30 minutes left from landing I hit a sandstorm I guess. The windspeed raised to 99kts and the sight was "foggy" over the desert :o
Maybe you hit too that wind...
-
Today, for leg 03 to GAGO, nothing too fancy is expected, as far as the weather goes. Maybe the temporary reduced visibility due to dust can make things more difficult.
recent (13-jan-2009 11:00(Z)) TAF
TAF GAGO 130400Z 1306/1406 032008G18KT CAVOK

There's a "0" too much in the wind indicator. I wonder if I'll go for the rwy07 approach, assuming (0)08 kts from 032, or for the rwy 25 approach assuming 08kts from (0)320... We'll see.
Higher up, the wind forecast for FL180 is only 8 to 13 kts from westerly directions (250-290)
So it should be pretty much smooth sailing this evening. See you all then!

I am going to do the 2nd leg today, and maybe the 3rd leg too ...

Hello dear pilots...
Just to let you know that Franz (EHM1800), Trevor (EHM1829) and myself (EHM1945) will perform the 3rd leg from DATM to GAGO online tonight 13rd of January at 2000z . So feel free to join at that time, as it will make the experience more enjoyable :>
Hope to see a number of you guys tonight.
Take Care
Cheers
Kristoff

Hi,
I just joined the mystery-g-force club myself... After a successful visual + ded reckoning flight and an uneventful approach to GAGO, i touched down around 175fpm but "won" the g-force penalty.
However, it looks like I love my PP score more than my free time, because as I type I am trying the leg again after discarding that troublesome flight. No fancy visual route this time, I found the airport once today, now a straight line suits me well :)
EDIT: It finally paid off, but to be sure I don't get the same #$%& penalty again I took advantage of the long runway and made sure to touch down at < 100fpm.

The Event is over for me... I thought I am 1 leg ahead in time and have not flown for 5 days... so I missed the next legs and stuck in the middle of Africa. Good luck to the EHM pack !
-
So sorry to hear that, Robert!
But don't worry, we'll send some rescue troops to come and get you out of that sandbox!
-
Well Robert, it's sad that you've fallen like this, but if I don't get some networking soon I'll be joining you.
I decided to try installing the Windows 7 beta on my gaming rig (it was running Vista X64 happily enough) but the internal NIC drivers didn't get picked up, so I currently can't get on the Internet at all... Going to buy a USB wireless adapter at lunchtime which is known good (in Win7 X64) and see if that sorts my woes!
BUMP: Yay, an "old" Belkin USB wireless adaptor comes to the rescue; I have networking, just not wired, yet... Next leg, here I come.
-
Bah! Barring some sort of miracle tomorrow, I too am out. Flew S044 (I think) today, but it didn't get seen as a PP flight, and no way I can re-fly before tomorrow night. Good luck to the rest of you still in it.
EDIT: No miracle, can't lock the plane any more, so that's officially me out of it. :(
-
Nahhh, that can't be!!!
Just as we are getting so close to entering South Africa!
Really frustrating, man!
-
On the flight ops page, I see you still have the PP-A17 locked for the flight.
Maybe you could give it another try?
-
Really? I'll give it a go and see what happens, but I suspect it'll fail.
-
Hello guys,
there seems to be some problem or I did something wrong :[
I wanted to fly the EHM-S047 flight today but I can't, because apparently my plane is still standing in FLBA but I flew the leg EHM-S046 on the 10th of this month.
Checking my Pireps I noticed that the flight EHM-S046 was added two times to my flown flights and I received an eMail on the 13th that my locked flight (EHM-S046) will be unlocked again.
What went wrong?
I hope I'm not out of the event?
Thanks for your help and cheers
Sven
-
Sven,
Are you sure that one of the two submissions of S046 got seen as PP?
I'll check from my end as well, and if it turns out that sommat's gone screwy (always a fair bet) I'll manually shift your plane sometime soon after.
EDIT: Looking in our control panel, I've fixed the duplication of S046. Now to shift your plane...
FURTHER EDIT: What would a PP event be without one DB problem ;D All fixed now Sven, PP-A22 is at FLND for you and I've given a day's extension on S047 so you are good to depart now (today).
-
Hello,
i cant lock the current leg ( S049 - FAER to FAOF ) , when I click on my plane (PP-A14) in the lock flight menu, no flights show up.
Can i fly the leg and submit a PIREP without locking the flight in ProPilot?
Thanks,
Raoul
-
Yup, tried the same; had the same result: no available flights appear after clicking "my" tailnumber PP-A20.
Maybe the server that runs the logging software has its clock set to an incorrect time (so it thinks it is still yesterday)? I say that, because if I look at the time that PIREPS are supposed to be filed, they are quite different from the times I actually flew my flights, and from when I filed the PIREPS.
-
Nah, that can't be it. Bruce's last PP PIREP is for "tomorrow" 00:02(GMT), where it is now "today" 19:08(GMT).
So if anything, that clock is ahead.
Still not possible to lock a flight though. Will have to see if I find the time next Sunday ...
-
Just looked at the fleet operations map: there's no planes at FAER!
Only one at FLLI, so most of them got out OK, but then they all magically dissappeared...
Are we now lost in the South African Bermuda Triangle?
-
OK, I flew the leg and tried to submit the PIREP by filling in the WebForm, didn't work either. :(
-
Hi mates,
Please try again.
-
YES!!! Locked the flight.
Will be up in the air in half an hour or so :)
-
Hi,
can someone put my plane (PP-A14) to FAOF?
I have locked the flight, once it worked again but then submitted the PIREP over the web, as I have already flown the leg, when ProPilot was down last friday...
Once i am at FAOF, Iwill lock the last leg and fly it over ProPilot
Thanks,
Raoul
-
That's done for you Raoul.
-
Thanks :)
But the next leg isn't lockable yet, I will wait this time though and fly it with ProPilot once the last leg is available :)
-
Same here, cannot lock the flight.
That DB doesn't like to be tinkered with, eh?
I had all sorts of things planned for this week's evenings, including the weekend, so I kinda set my mind to flying the last leg today. I guess I'll have to move some things around if I want to see the Tafelberg...
I'll try again tomorrow, and see what happens then.
-
How long do we have to fly the leg. If i can't fly today, it won't probably be till this weekend....
-
Will need to be able to unlock the last flight so I can fly it on Thursday evening, from 20:00(Z) at the latest. Otherwise I wont be able to finish the tour in time (I have other commitments on Friday).
Or an extension untill Monday evening would work for me too...
-
Anyone got news on when ProPilot will work again for the event? Would be a shame if it all broke down at the last leg :)
-
I now officially don't have the time anymore to fly the last leg before its deadline, unless the deadline is moved back.
I tried several times per day since Tuesday, but I just cannot lock the flight. Bummer!
-
Hi,
The last flight is active. Sorry was a problem on the airport ICAO.
Regards,
-
Half an hour too late for me...
-
Well, I will fly it tonight, I am sure they will push the deadline back, after all it is the last leg and it wasn't flyable due to technical problems. I consider it like a flight delayed two days :)
-
Gah! I'll try to have a look into this today and get it fixed. Pretty much regardless, I'll also push the closing date out to Monday (so Monday will be the last day of the event).
-
Great! I'm sure I can fly on Monday.
Maybe even during the weekend already. That depends a bit on the amount of hangover each morning; I have a lot of birthdays to go to this weekend ;)
-
My thanks to E-J for testing, the locking is working (thanks Bruno) and the final day the flight (S050) can be made is Monday 2nd March.
-
Just successfully completed the last flight of CN
Yay! :)
-
After my ADSL line crashed on 8/2/09, I have only just got it back- which means I don't get to finish the event :{. Ah well there is always the next event!
-
With me landing at FACT a few minutes ago, all 7 planes that were on FAOF are now at FACT.
So this officially concludes the event!
Congratulations to all that made it to FACT. Sympathies for those who did not make it to FACT (for whatever reason that may be).
And a BIG BIG thank you for all that organised the event, and helped it stay alive. I thoroughly enjoyed it. :)
Cheers!
Eric-Jan
Already curious about a next event... ?
-
Yet another well put together event, many thanks to the MT for the organizing;)
