Title: Saint P.'s Day Fly-In
Post by: EHM-2387 Eric-Jan on March 17, 2012, 09:25:39 pm
An eventful Event!

First off, the première of the Company Channel. All pilots found their way to it, and it worked like a charm! :)
We did not have ATC all the way, so the CC was a nice way to overcome the middle section without ATC online. Strange, how you imagine a voice with a name, and that it does not sound anything like the real one  ;D

Unfortunately, my flight was cut short because of an FSX crash. I got a bit, but not much, further down the route than this:

I did get to take this picture with David in the background, and some opposing traffic (B737 en route to ECKP, FL360):

David's Route:

Andrei had timed his Zürich departure perfectly ;)

Meanwhile, Giancarlo had departed from Brussels in an F70

Trevor hit a spell of bad luck too, and had to restart from EHAM
Meanwhile, there was ATC all the way, for a while
  :D

I set up shop as a tower view at  EIDW, to watch the guys come in.
Some local Thunderstorms made for a wet apron, here and there

David on final, Andrei close behind

D.s vacating spot. Soon after, he dissappeared from the network for a while

Andrei on final. 747 has to wait. :P

Some windshear on short final, but a safe landing!

Finding a nice parking spot on this wet apron

Soon after, David re-emerged from the Matrix

Gian had some sort of a comms failure, so he was on chat with Shannon Control. He got some round-about vectors as a thank-you

Gian on short final

Now this is what I call STOL performance
Gian disconnected after sitting still in this spot with another plane on finals...

Trevor took a little longer to get to Dublin. Unfortunately, Shannon Control did not feel like waiting for him :(

An improvised STAR

On final

Touch Down!

Finding a parking spot too

With the sun almost setting, it was time to say goodbye.
I think it was a successful event.
Something to do more often ;)

I hope I can tape the FS recorder recordings. If so, then I'll post a little movie too. But that will be next week, or so, because these things take time...

Looks like a really great fly-in E-J - thanks to you for organising it and to all the pilots who took part  :)

If I had a functioning flightsim PC, I would have loved to join you ;)

Well get that thing fired up then! :P  ;D
(I know exactly the amount of work involved...)

Twas good to have the CC, and very nice to see that when we all came online, Shannon Control got online as well. I thanked him for his service in a chat session, and wished him a happy St. Patrick's Day on behalf of all of us at EHM. He appreciated that ;)

I'll try the flight again today or tomorrow, because I have done all the prep work already. Printed and studied the charts, practised what to click when given different speed and vectors by ATC, .., the works. Plus, I have assigned myself the flight, and did not get to report it :( And, the weather does not look like I'll be taking my motorcycle out of the garage todday (that's what I had planned to do).

Thanks E-J for organizing the St Pat's day Fly-in. :)
I started celebrating before the flight, so it was a wonder I found Ireland, let alone Dublin. ;D
Joking aside, Your compilation of the flights and write-up are great.

Looking forward to the next one.
