As a "group" we are at leg 03 UUDD-USPP already.
Find the Doodle here to join:
http://www.doodle.com/xpxsnb7vk5fnyfnh (http://www.doodle.com/xpxsnb7vk5fnyfnh)
-
Thanks E-J I'm in :)
-
If you spot any decent x-plane scenery for our routes, let me know.
Part of my frustrations yesterday were that on each reload I ended up on the runway and there were no ramps on the bgl so I had to manually taxi to the rough location of a ramp.
-
I'm already parked at USPP but I could fly with you guys just for the heck of it...
FS9 has no route connecting these two places, I flew the thing on direct-GPS mode, which is not realistic but what else could I do.. ;D
-
We'll be doing
UUDD SID WT BD4T GEKLA CTR26 DAKLO IN2T SF R480 RP R487 LANIL G358 MN DCT USPP
which I got from http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ (http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/). I did not check with MCDU if this is a valid route at this time, but I think it's close enough ;)
If you have FS Commander, you can paste this route string, and generate an FS flightplan from it (and a bunch more other goodies)
If you don't have it, you should get it ;D
I know it can be a pain to try and get it into FS9 ...
Anyway, you are more than welcome to join the party!
Just follow the Doodle link, fill in your name, and indicate your "availability". As simple as that :D
I will pick a date / time, and post that here.
-
Anybody else besides David care to join?
Please fill in when you would like to fly the leg here:
http://www.doodle.com/xpxsnb7vk5fnyfnh (http://www.doodle.com/xpxsnb7vk5fnyfnh)
-
You guys work out your best times and I'll join if possible, since I'm not actually flying it, it'd be sort of bad if you had to adjust to my schedules (but I'm free most of the time anyway since I work from home)
-
For now, since David has other priorities this Monday, it looks like we'll do leg 3 on Sunday the 18th, 2000Z. That's probably during the peak hour of IVAO's Crowded Skies 2011 ;D
It's not firm yet, as no-one but David has entered any availability yet... (and Mariano has all his tick marks green by default ;) ), but that's what I am thinking of right now.
Tomorrow, I can fly my next leg of the Pirates of the Crarribean tour, plus some Twotter tests, so I won't be bored anyway.
-
OK, decision time!
From the Doodle, I read 3 available at Sunday 18 December, 2000Z, and 3 available at Monday 19th at 2000Z.
I say let's do leg 03 on that Sunday, and leg 04 on that Monday. That way, we'll be up to speed again on Monday, while still Flying IVAO crowded skies :)
Also, other people that had some issues before, might be able to solve them, and catch up and join ... ???
-
Haven't heard any loud protests, so I say we stick to the schedule above ;)
-
Hurry up and catch up so I can fly leg 6 with you guys. Bruce was there on VATSIM when I did leg 5 but I had my alerter go off right after takeoff and didnt get back to the house for 30 minutes and had to restart.
-
@Ted: I only have an IVAO account...
@everybody: current @ UUDD:
UUDD 181500Z 14011MPS 1100 R14R/P1500 R14L/P1500N SHSN BKN013CB M03/M04 Q1005 64490593 14490593 TEMPO 0800 FZRA +SHSN
Remember to set your de-icing to "on" ;) ;D
IVAO Crowded Skies: 1311 connections @ 1542Z.
Maybe this evening even more ... ?
UUDD_TWR, and USPP_TWR are staffed at the moment.
-
Only David and myself flew yesterday at 2000Z. David forgot his Flogger, so he'll be flying leg 3 all over again, probably this evening. I see Robert iand Alexander are at UUDD now too...
If no-one else will fly leg 4 this evening, I will fly leg 4 with David on Wednesday.
Please leave a reply here ... I will check back here at around 1700Z to see what's going on.
-
Hi EJ I'm ready for tonight ;D I mean in order to fly together leg 4 @ 2000zulu. See you then ;)
-
Leg 4 it is, then!
C.U. @ 2000Z :D
-
Sorry D.
Panic @ work. I have to come in. No flight for me tonight :( :(
-
No problem Eric-Jan, maybe next week or fixing by another Doodle in order to wait the other guys. I'll continue with the IVAO tours... :)
-
got home at 11, yesterday. Started this morning again at 07:00; will be so for the rest of the week.
I hope I'll be free during X-mas ... Can't say when I'll be flying anytime soon ...
Lucky leg 3 is in the pocket; leg 4 needs to be done before next year, and in principle I have the days between X-mas and Newyearsday off (I hope that still holds...)
-
Got it, as you said, could be between Xmas and New year... :)
-
Looks like today will be my last day of work for this year. Will try to set up a new Doodle this evening for leg 4 (I do have to catch up on my X-mas family visits ;))
Hoping that Gian and Alexander got a chance to fly leg3 today... :)
-
I'm up at the family retreat and won't be back until thursday
-
I think I'm ready to fly this leg between 2000 - 2200 zulu 27 to 30 December. Unfortunately for Gian it's over :'( but he told that he'll fly together in 2012 :)
-
I see it's just you, Robert Skikzo, and me at USPP now, David.
So, Robert: you want to join? And can you (bot0h fly tomorrow, the 28th 2000Z?
-
For me is ok. I'll be there tomorrow 28 at 2000 zulu :)
-
It's a date! ;D
Perhaps we can prepare for leg 4 as well, since they are both short ones. It's time to catch up with the others a little...
-
Ok. and I think Mariano is @ USPP too... See you tonight :)
-
You are right. I hope Maiano can join too :)
Route for leg 3 is simple:
USPP (0.0nm) -DCT-> MH (133.9nm) -STAR-> USSS (192.0nm)
If we continue on to USTR...
USSS SID AR G358 MANEB A300 TALIK DCT USTR,
good for 161nm.
-
So, David and I flew leg 3 yesterday, and we decided to leave leg 4 for next Monday.
We'll be flying USSS-USTR Monday, the 2nd of Januari 2012, from 2000Z.
Everybody is welcome to join, the more the marrier! :D
Contrary to the route I posted before, I think we should file
USSS SOPUS A927 GIBUL USTR
that way we'll have ourselves some decent SIDs and STARs.
See http://aviadocs.net/aip/html/eng.htm (http://aviadocs.net/aip/html/eng.htm) for charts ;)
-
Just a little reminder: Monday is tomorrow ;)
-
I'll be there at 2000 zulu :)
-
Yesterday, it was Leg05 for David and myself. Then, out of the blue, Bruce joined the party ;)
OK, he initially picked the same spot as I did ;D, but that got solved soon...
We all had some internet/IVAO server/IvAp connection issues for a bit. So when it came down to taxiing, David was "lost" for a minute.
But all three of us got airborne in the end, and, with a couple of disruptions, ended up in USTR together.
After a SUPOL1A departure from 08L, a sort stretch to GIBOL, and descend already. Cruise level was about 6500m (FL210-ish), because there was no more time to climb!
I chose the NDB03 approach, because the METAR said wind from 090. Only 3 to 7 kts, so that was the most straight-in approach with a headwind component. But actually, when low and close to the runway, it appeared that I had a 15 kt tailwind! On my approach, I was a bit high. Trying to loose speed and altitude, I swerved left and right a bit too much to end up on the runway, so in the end I opted to go-around. With the other guys on my tail, I was now number 3 to land, and after a near-perfect holding pattern as published, I had a very smooth (-99fpm) landing. A bit far down the runway, perhaps, but here was runway length plenty for this nimble little jet.
All gathered at the apron of USTR, it was time for the traditional group picture. SMILE!
A nice start of the 2012 flight season.
We (David and myself) will fly the next leg, leg06, USTR-UNOO, on Monday January 9th, 2000Z.
So if you want to be in the next group picture ...
-
Very nice report Eric-Jan. Thanks and see you Monday at 2000 zulu... I think so ;)
-
Route for tomorrow:
USTR DCT ISKET A305 OL B236 BUNET DCT UNOO
A simple, more or less straight line of some 300nm. A relatively short hop again. Should be done in about an hour :)
Startup is planned for 2000Z, so all of you join us, if you can!
-
Yesterday, another leg of the Trans Siberian Tour with David and Bruce :)
Not much wind to take into account, but very low temperatures, and some fog at UNOO (minus 20 deg C, vis. 3 km). I had set the time to actual time - 12 hours, so I would have daylight for these pictures.
Bruce had a bit of an identity crisis at the start:
but he managed to be an Antonov 148 as we grouped at the holding point :P
on to rwy 21, IS1A departure
During the flight, we had some formation flying moments ;)
and some nice clouds ...
Sooner than I expected, we were at TOD already. Actually, I fully missed TOD, and started descend way too late.
So I did a holding pattern ove RM, plus an extended one while descending to IILS07 intercepting altitude
My friends had already safely parked their planes on the ramp as I flew on foggy finals
3nm out, and still no runway... You just have to rely on instruments here.
The group picture on the destination apron is getting to be a tradition ;D
A very nice flight, thank you gentlemen!
Next week, another leg in this continuing story of the Trans Siberia Event
-You can be in the next report too ... ;) -
-
Hi E-J. nice pictures, Yes it was a problem selecting the correct MTL at first but it was still a nice flight for the 3 of us, will try and be there next time Bruce T EHM-2131
-
Thanks again E-J ;) a pleasure to fly together :D See you next Monday 2000 zulu :)
-
Route for tomorrow:
UNOO LUSOV ABESA B944 GOLIM UNNT
Good for some 350 nm, so I'm planning FL250 (to help my descend planning a bit, if I'm late again ;))
See you then, D.!
And I hope Bruce will be able to join in as well.
Anybody else can join too, you know. You don't need to be flying the Event, or PP, just show up (on IVAO) and flapper along ;)
-
I'll be there E-J. ;D
-
HI Both of you ,I was hoping to be with tonight by things have changed at home and will not be able to go with you, so have a good trip and happy landings Bruce T EHM2131
-
Sorry David, I have to cancel as well :( :(
I have baby sitting duty until my wife gets home from work, and apparently that is going to be very late today...
So I do have a little time to type this on my laptop, but I cannot "lock myself up" in the study (where my FS PC is).
You fly the leg already, and I will fly whenever I can. Don't know exactly when that will be yet...
I hope you see this in a reasonable time ...
-
Got it and no problem :) I'm going to fly tonight and hope to see you in the next leg E-J. and Bruce ;)
-
I've got you on WebEye, David :)
UNOO 161914Z 05005MPS 4500 IC BR SCT009 M24/M27 Q1039 TEMPO SCT007 07450350 RMK OBST PT OBSC QFE771
Minus 24 C! Brrrrr!!!
Anybody know what the OBST PT OBSC remark means?
-
HI .. I think OBST = obstacle and OBSC = obscure/obscured/ obscuring.... so that should be obstacle PT obscured... regards BruceT
-
We think the same, Bruce. :)
In the Russian AIP (http://aviadocs.net/aip/html/eng.htm (http://aviadocs.net/aip/html/eng.htm)), GEN 2.2 says OBST = Obstacle. I interpreted OBSC as obscured. Maybe PT means partly, or an indication of some obstacle. Can't find an obstacle "PT", though.
Obstacle chart shows an obstacle at ~4600 m from rwy07, so with visibility at 4500, that is probably what the METAR is trying to warn about.
-
I now have FS9, FSX, and X-Plane 9.7 running on my notebook, incluing (X)FSUIPC, and Flogger.
Now, before trying the next leg from the couch in front of the TV, next to the wife, I tried to fly the An-148 with the arrow keys on that tiny 10" widescreen.
Lucky those Antonovs have a sturdy landing gear! My attempt looked a bit like this real life footage:
http://trinixy.ru/66697-pristegivajjte_remni_na_samoletakh_rossijjskikh_avialinijj_15_mb.html (http://trinixy.ru/66697-pristegivajjte_remni_na_samoletakh_rossijjskikh_avialinijj_15_mb.html)
-
This evening's route ...
UNNT EB BUKAM KESED AMOTI A309 NZ A300 RANET UNKL
I know, a bit last minute, due to the site being offline yesterday and earlier today...
-
I'll be there ;)
-
No, this is not a near head-on collision ;P
Half way through last leg of the Trans Siberia event, looking to my right rear, I see David's contrails following me.
Typical setup, with GPS, IvAp, Chat window, TCAS, panel view and outside view, all together;)
Busy screen!
On a snowy UNKL apron, after a go-around on my behalf, because the AP decided I wanted to go the 108 degree radial outbound KRS for rwy11...
Next Monday, we'll try to catch up with the others by flying 2 legs in one evening (that is going to be a late one for me, but what the heck :) )
Will post routes here during the weekend.
-
Thanks again for the photos E-j and I'll see you Monday 2000 zulu I think so ;)
-
Yep, see you then :D
We will leave at 2000Z sharp, because we have quite some distance to cover.
Leg1, UNKL - UIII:
UNKL BALUT ATREG R497 RO A310 BD UIII
Leg 2, UIII - UIUU
UIII GOLOS A810 KUDAR A806 UNARA OSTUN UIUU
Only thing is: OSTUN is not in the default FS9 scenery (it is in FSX; not sure about X-plane), so we'll have to wing it, as far as STARs are concerned ;)
It even means that it is not recognised by my Laptop FSC install, because I had that one run against the FS9 database. Will see soon if my regular PC install of FSC will recognise OSTUN...
-
I see that, besides my regular Brother in Flight David and myself, Mariano de Ascencao, James Hutchinson, Pedro Custódio, and Robert Szikszo are at PP location UNKL right now.
We would be very happy to see any of you (or anybody else who'd like to fly along) join us tomorrow at 2000Z for a flight to Irkutsk, and maybe even Mukhino after that. ... :D
-
Having some FS issues ... FSUIPC seems all gone suddenly ???
That means Flogger won't log. And that again, means it's just an F. !!
re-downloading / re-installing. Running a bit late ...
Take off without me if you feel like it; I will catch up
-
I'm the only man until now, and I'm waiting for you E-j. :)
-
I think I'm up and running now... near threshold rwy11 UNKL.
Don't see you, though, D. ...
-
Ah, yes, there you are!
-
This was my problem tonight :(
Incident Report:
the right tank developed a major fuel leak resulting in total fuel loss. The pilot was able to land the aircraft safely.
-
:o
No wonder you had to go around once! Not only was there the steep descend with almost no visibility, but also an imbalance in your fuel distribution.
Lucky you did not run out of fuel. Better get that repaired before that long leg ...
-
The 148 is a sturdy bird, treat her right and she'll do right by you.
-
You're right men, but when you fly with FSpax... failures are a bit of a lottery. ;D
-
Some impressions of our last leg:, UNKL-UIII:
The terrain off to our right is getting more mountainous.
Nice, close formation, but not too close ;) (no TCAS going crazy, this time)
VOR-DME approach rwy30 UIII
David landing rwy 12 after his go-around rwy30
Parking at a snowy Irkutsks
David's "butterfly approach" rwy 12 ;)
Unfortunately, I arrived a touch late, and we had a 50 knots wind, straight on the nose, all the way to Irkutsk. That's why we did not fly the next, short, leg already. It was already 23:30 (LT) when signing off at UIII, and my alarm is set for 05:30 (LT), so the night was short enough already...
So next week, a short hop: UIII-UIUU :D
-
Ok. thanks for the nice shots and see you then 2000 zulu :)
-
I'm ready! ;) ;D ;D
-
I think the servers of IVAO doesn't work well tonight... :(
-
Right now is ok. [IVAO-LD>[ALL]Hi All, some of the services are coming back online again. The hardware of an important server crashed. Thanks for your understanding] ;D
