i flew in the fly in and also on 1 other occassion online.
The problem i have is that i cannot see any other traffic around, i don't know if i'm just really unlucky/lucky (depending on which way you look at it), but this is quite a problem for me when told by the ATC to wait for the traffic to pass infront of me before continuing to taxi!!
Does anyone have any ideas how i can test this out...and if so i will be much appreciated!!!
-
Maybe tonight we can test in a small airfield near 20h Zulu, if you're available.
-
Obvious thing to ask is:-
Did you download/install any of the MTLv2? (The base package at the very least...)
-
yeah installed all the MTL files...and just now i have uninstalled it all and then re-installed it, and still have the same problem.
I also just installed the IVAP stuff onto my dad's machine and he has the same problem!!!
the only things that are the same is:
FS Version
IVAP Version
Router (Internet Connection)
And also 1 more thing is now clear...I Know I Can't See Other Aircraft Online
-
Hello Chris,
I can help you with you problem !
A Common problem is that people HOST the multiplayer session, that's wrong, you have to JOIN the multiplayer session and you have to JOIN it before you conact to the IVAP Box !!!
Believe me, so you will be able to see other aircrafts online !
Good Luck and see you in the skies,....and if you want to switch you hub come to Amsterdam Schiphol, we always looking forward to have more online pilots at our nice, wonderful and number one online hub in the web ;)
Bye Kendy
-
You're using FS2002 (if your post to the IVAO forums is correct) so as Kendy says, you need to join IVAP's multiplayer session before you connect IVAP to the network.
Are there any FS2002 users out there that can post a "for Dummies" step-by-step guide (please) and I'll make sure it gets added to the document I am writing on this very subject. :)
-
Murray I am using FS2002 and with over 300 online hours I know step by step what to do.
Give me a note ....I will help you, no problem ;)
Bye Kendy!
-
what do i need to join?
-
short explanation:
- setup and create your flight
- press the fly button, so that you are sit in the cockpit (engine still off)
- go in the menue and open Multiplayer session
- enter your callsign and press JOIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
- open your IVAP Box and press connect, after you wrote all you datas with the same callsign
- file your flight plan and enjoy
this was only a short help if you need more let me know it !
Bye Kendy ;)
-
the problem i have is that there is no session to join!!!
-
when everything ic correct installed FS2002, IVAP, FSCUIPC than there are 2 buttons one to HOST and one to JOIN.
Please try it again: open your FS2002 and go in the cockpit , then press on the menue (top left) button go multiplayer and only insert on the top you callsign and then on the bottom join, please try it again
-
yeah there is 1 that says host and one that says join, but i cannot clikc the join one because it is greyed out.
i think it is because i havn't sellected a session.
and this is because there isn't 1 listed.
-
actually the session shows up automatic, so that you don't have to choose , or insert something!
I would recommend to deinstall your IVAP and MTL and install the newest IVAP 0.5.6. with the MTL and the newest FSUIPC..
-
yeah i did that earlier this afternoon!!!
i thought that was the problem
slthough that session thing did work on the old version of IVAP
-
if it helps, when i click the ivap icon in the sys tray, all 4 of the things say connected.
if this normal?
i know that it did work with the multiplayer thing on an older version of IVAP!!! if that helps at all
-
Kendy,
Don't you need to run the IVAP Network Interface separately?
It's the thing that makes the 4 "LEDs" in the taskbar. I have a feeling that it is that that makes the MP session.
Failing that, I know that in FS2004, you have to go into the IVAP menu in FS (sat in the cockpit) and select "Start IVAP" to have it make the MP session and automatically join it. I seem to remember things are much the same in FS2002, only you have to manually join the MP session before opening the IVAP User Interface. (Trouble is, not only am I using FS2004, I also run IVAP in MultiPC mode, so I have two lots of difference...)
-
i have tried following the steps in the manual and what you guys are telling me, and have no luck as yet!!!
-
Chris,
Daft question - do you "see" multiplayer traffic online in the TCAS? If you aren't seeing it on either the TCAS or in FS, something major is not right.
Other thing you might want to try - run AI-Bridge before you fire up Flight Simulator (just for testing purposes) and see if the MP traffic appear then...
-
of course,
you have to start IVAP but not yet connect, then multiplayer session join and then connect IVAP.
I didn't say it because it was a short explanation .
But Chris go in FS START IVAP (till all lamps get green) then open multiplayer write callsign, session is automatically there only press join.
After this connect IVAP ;o)
-
OK - from the top (for my benefit as much as Chris's, I have to get this right for the IVAP Flying Guide)
- Start the IVAP Network Interface, wait for 4 reds.
- Start Flight Simulator, set up your flight.
- "Go flying", and once you're in the cockpit, go into the IvAp menu and Start IvAp.
- Go into the File menu and Multiplayer "tab" (you know what I mean, I'm sure) and Join the IvAp multiplayer session.
Is that about the size of it? Or does the "Join MP session" happen before you "Go flying"?

Yeah tried this but still cannot see the IVAP session, and therefore cannot join.
what version of IVAP are you using Kendy?

The problem i have with this method is that i get told the FUSIPC has duplicate copies, when i look in the modules folder there is only 1 fsuipc.dll, although other files to do with fsuipc.
ADDED LATER
OK sorted this by deleting all the other FUSIPC files, and putting in the latest FSUIPC.DLL file.
but still i have got issues with not being able to see the session.

That's good, it means IvAp has the traffic, so it's definitely an MP Session issue.

Second one first: MultiPlayer traffic (or MultiPlayer session, as above...) ;D
AIBridge (http://jcboliveira.flysplash.org/programs/AIBridge24.zip) is a little tool written by Jose Oliveira that writes the FSUIPC MP traffic tables back into Flight Simulator's MP traffic tables. As a short-term fix, you may just find this makes traffic appear. I used to use it many moons ago to ensure MP traffic showed up on the PMDG 737 GC TCAS (but this need got fixed in one of the recent IVAP updates...)

Hence my post above to nail down the start/join order.
I think we can be reasonably certain that your problem is with the MP session. Once we get that nailed, traffic should pop up correctly.
-
AI-Bridge says that there are no sessions, so this unfortunatly didn't help!!!
-
OK guys
someone called kenny on the IVAO Forum has solved it...http://forum.ivao.org/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15625
he said to seach for the session manually...on 127.0.0.1
and this works, now i can see the session, i should be able to see the traffic, will test in a min, and then get back to you all. but thought i better tell you this so as you don't spend anymore time trying to work this out.
but thanks sooo much for trying to help. what you said would have worked, but i think that the settings on our router at home don't let FS look out for severs!!!

All useful diagnostics (even though we knew this).
So, just need to work out at what point the MP session gets built by IvAp.
- Start IvAp Network Interface and wait for 4 reds.
- Start FS2002, set up a flight (don't click "Go fly" yet...).
- Go into the Multiplayer "tab" and search "127.0.0.1" for sessions to join.
If there's no MP session at this point, "Go fly" and check for an MP Session again.
If there's no MP session at this point, IvAp/Start IvAp and once the UI loads (give it 30 seconds or so) check for an MP Session again.
(I'm going to work this out if it kills you Chris :8)

Hahahaha...
He only happens to be the lead programmer on both the IvAc and IvAp projects ;D
You will notice that in my last post I have suggested searching "127.0.0.1" for the session BTW (said I'd get it in the end...)
-
yeah nice one...and actually when i tryed hooking my dads machine up to the IVAP in MP, it was there in sessions, so must just be my machine...i bet it is the d**n XP firewall!!!
cos he is on ME and im XP
Added LATER
Yes the XP firewall had been setup to block access by IVAP :$ Sorry guys...it was my fault all along...but at least now i'm cured...have adjusted the firewall, and now it gets detected!!!
Thanks Everyone
-
Ah, yes... the lovely XP firewall (once again, M$ gets it all wrong).
I have it disabled on all my XP FS machines, BitDefender 8.0 has a much better firewall and does antivirus as well...
-
yeah i mainly use the hardware firewall in the router, the XP one is purely a secondary option.
I have now compiled a FULL set of instructions on how to set up FS 2002 for online flying.
Flying Online In Flight Simulator 2002
Using Single PC Setup In IVAP
1. Run Flight Simulator 2002.
2. Setup Flight, When At Gate, Turn Off Engines (CTRL + SHIFT + F1).
3. If Flying A EuroHarmony Flight Using Flight Logger Then Setup The Flight Logger. If Not Then Ignore This Step.
4. Press ALT To Get Access To The Menu Bar, And Select IVAO and Then Start IVAP. But DO NOT Connect.
5. Press ALT Again But This Time Select File And The Multiplayer, The Click On Connect.
6. When The Multiplayer Connect Box Appears, Type Your Name (Callsign) Into The Box .
7. Select The Option “TCP/IP”.
8. Select “IVAP ”.
9. This Click JOIN.
10. Next Connect To IVAP, And Fill In All The Relevant Information.
11. Now You Are Ready To Fly.
You can also download this as a word document from HERE (http://offtopic.goldeye.info/Shares/FlyingOnlineInFlightSimulator2002.doc)

Long time ago ,i had the same problem, it was my router .
But i use fs2004 and at that time it was not ivap yet.
Check your router's ports and your firewall's ports.
