Has anyone else noticed that when downloading the real weather for anywhere in europe the visibility is never more than 10 miles?
And I am getting tired of flying in the fog.
I think that this is because of the different format of the metar in europe ie. visibility given in metres and the maximum is 9999, which is rounded to 10km.
Is there a way to stop this and get the correct visibility. I am fed up of when I load up my local airport (EGTK Oxford (Kidlington)) on a sunny day, only to find a thick layer of mist?
EGTK is modelled well is FS with its unusual runway configuration (2 concrete, 2 grass in a weird intersecting shape) and the parking + taxiways are correct too. Even the control tower is right.
Incidently, as Oxford is probably considered the UK's 2nd city, I think that it should be included in the EHM regional timetable Class 1 (4000ft rwy length). Probably difficult to organise but just a thought.

I'm talking default real world weather with updates, no weather addons.

The METAR are supplied by the same company so there shouldnt be any difference in the way they present their data for Microsoft to use

Are you sure that you have your graphics settings turned up enough, and havn't got it limited to 10miles (if you know what I mean here)?
PS: Oxford, the UKs 2nd city - think thats just you....I have never thought of it as a city at all! Woops ;)

On what basis do you judge 'Oxford' as the UKs 2nd city. I guess you allow London first place. Where does that leave the dozens of far more significant places?
I put ahead of Oxford all the following and many more:
Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Belfast, Edinburgh, Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Southampton, Norwich ... I could go on for ages here.
Without wanting to start too much of a debate Oxford although carrying a little history is to most of us just an irritating one way system that stems the traffic flow on the A40.

Hey, we know it like the back of my hand. My mum still occasionally drives into bus lanes though. Hehehehehe. Norwich???????
I was judging on the basis that most foreigners who are asked to name some english cities will think of London and then Oxford. Probably the world famous university. I guess us insiders who don't live nearby think differently.
Anyway, does everyone else who uses default real world weather never get anymore the 10km visibility?

Sorry ... forgot to answer your first question.
With real world weather I do get more than 10K visibility if that is the real world weather.
-
No, I do get more than 10K without real weather.
Are you guys talking about the real world weather that gets inserted by IVAO or the weather that comes from the weather menu?
-
He's probably refering to that from the weather menu
