Title: New helicopters
Post by: EHM-0948 Bruno on June 22, 2005, 11:07:22 pm
Dear pilots,

I don't know if you noticed but we have 2 brand new helicopters on our fleet.

Have good care with them ;) ... and let's roll them out around class 1 destinations.

Regards and safe landings!

Very good news Bruno. Our fleet expanding but unfortunately I am not qualified to fly a helicopter. I am trying to fly with it but everytime I am crashing on the ground... :D

ahh, i just practice, it takes a lot more throttle control for helicopters and more delicate movements

I dont really like flying heli's for flights, it just goes snail pace and bores me. But theres nothing wrong with some stunts!;D

I prefer planes to be honest... I like the view when you see the treshold and got the right descending angle. You see the runway in front of you and you are getting closer and closer and finally you hear the noise of the planes wheels... :D

I am just in love with planes... What can I say... :D

I like flying helicopters. I got a nice scenery of my hometown, and calculated, I could get to the job within 4 minutes only, if I had a chopper ;D ... but now, with public transport it takes about 1 hour.  :s

So, flying a heli is totally different than flying an airplane. Your speed is dependent not only on the throttle, but mainly on your nose angle. You fly more high if you increase throttle and reduce incline...you go faster if you increase throttle and increase incline...for a stable cruise, you must reach a nice throttle and incline settings. If you want to slow down, just minimize throttle, and push back the stick, to point the nose upward.

In MS, unfortunately helicopters can do very crazy movements, if you reach to a state, when it goes slowly backward. So try to avoid flying backward ;D although it can be hard when trying to do a nice touchdown.

I think the main problem in FS (and any realistic chopper simulator) is the fact you have to own rudder pedals.

I've got rudder pedals, and they don't have a big impact on flying heli's. Its hard to turn, becuase you will turn with the rudders to your selected heading but when you release the pressure off the pedals, the heli just goes back to your origional hdg.

Don't forget to bank at the same time or that will happen :)

Helicopters work basically like planes as you gain speed.
The matter is that at low speed, when you increase the collective you have to put quite much pedal to the left, and right when you decrease the collective...

It's like a plane with a huge helicoidal blast effect....
