I have taken off from or landed in every European country other than Greenland and Iceland. Completed the last on Monday. Is the award software running? :$

Hi,

Basically the idea for the European Award is to land or arrive in 10 (blue), 20 (silver) or 40 (cobalt) distinct european countries.

For example, imagine that I departure from Portugal and Landed in Spain : It counts 2. Then I make another flight departing from Portugal (again) and landed in France : That counts 3 in total. and so on ...

Currently the script is changed to that logic. That is, i count the distinct departure airports, and then count the distinct destination airports not included on the first ones.

Current ICAO codes for european countries start with:

'EB', 'ED', 'EE', 'EF', 'EG', 'EH', 'EI', 'EK', 'EL', 'EN', 'EP', 'ES', 'ET', 'EV', 'EY', 'LA', 'LB', 'LC', 'LD', 'LE', 'LF', 'LG', 'LH', 'LI', 'LJ', 'LK', 'LL', 'LM', 'LO', 'LP', 'LQ', 'LR', 'LS', 'LT', 'LU', 'LV', 'LW', 'LY', 'LZ', 'BG', 'BI', 'UI', 'UK', 'UL', 'UM', 'UR', 'UU', and 'UW'

I have manually counted your countries and ticked them off, and have a list of only 37 (38 with Russia):

This leaves about 8 or 9 other technically European countries (not all have airports necessarily).

Europe sure has changed a lot since I went to school. The Eurovision Song Contest has a lot to answer for.

The number of countries in Europe is an issue that has been debated
various times. If you search through the forum's post you should find a
post with the correct 40 countries long list. Israel, by the way, is not
in Europe but in Asia. Turkey instead is mostly in Asia, but has a small
territory in what is considered considered european landmass.

Admittedly though, the situation in the balcans and former Yugoslavia
tends to be slightly confusing and EHM might not be up to date on
that... =)

In Bruno's list above is LL - Israel and LT - Turkey

Turkey politically and culturally is considered to be mainly in Asia Minor but has been an Associate Member of the EU since 1963 and has been trying for full membership since the 1980s.

The countries according to EHM isn't that just the 40 countries visited in the European Captitals Tour?

Anyway, Island is surely an European country.

Iceland certainly is in its own right since partially ceding from Demark. I have just started the European Capitals tour and hopefully that will find the missing one. :s
