My new copy of FS2K4 is great and the AI planes are flying around superbly. However, even having run the Project AI files to take away the commercial traffic defaults I'm still plagued by large quantities of these irritating airlines. Any ideas about how to remove them manually?
-
Yeah somehow too with fs2002, even after using their default commercial plane remover, those annoying fake airlines are still around.......
To remove them manually you would have to use TTools and open up some traffic file (can't remember which) and edit them in a word document file and then convert it back to it's original format

Check this link for the uninstall of the default aircraft with the PAI installer.
http://packages.projectai.com/installer.php (http://packages.projectai.com/installer.php)

Ive tried that lots of times but it doesnt seem to make any effect, nad now that I'm beguinning to put more AI planes into the air it begins to get more crowed and I would like to see the Default ones off to higher frame rates.
Has anyone achieved this total removal of all fake airlines? :s

Frustratingly, it was really easy on FS2K2 and all the commercial and GA traffic vanished but in 2K4 it just doesn't seem to work.

For FS2004 to remove the default aircraft just rename the original Traffic030528.bgl into Traffic030528.lbg.
For those who installed the "FS2004 Default General Aviation Traffic Installer (realistic registrations)" the general aviation default aircraft will not be removed.

For FS2004 to remove the default aircraft just rename the original Traffic030528.bgl into Traffic030528.lbg.
Where is that file inside FS? I've looked evreywhere but can't find it.
Thanks,
Alex;)

Look in
C:
Program Files
Microsoft Games
Flight Simulator 9
Scenery
World
scenery
Be arware that if the original Traffic030528.bgl has been changed (e.g. with TTools) than the name will be different. It's format is then Trafficxxxxxx.bgl where xxxxxx is the date of the last creation of this file.

I have 2 files, on eis the traffic030528.bgl file and another is the traffic030528.ORIGINAL file... do I erase both?
Thanks,
Alex;)

Don't delete, just rename traffic030528.bgl to something like traffic030528.old
You can keep traffic030528.ORIGINAL
Flightsimulator will only read the .bgl files in that directory at startup.
-
Paul, thanks for this advice but if I do this will I need to reinstall all my PAI files again?
-
That depends on how you installed the PAI files.
If you used the autoinstaller from PAI than you should have several Traffic_PAI_xxx.bgl files in that direrctory.
xxx is the designation of the airliner in that file.
If you have those files than the PAI traffic will not be removed when renaming the traffic030528.bgl file.

Thanks Paul. I did use the auto installer and therefore do seem to have dozens of these .bgl files. I have renamed the one as instructued so thanks for the advice.
