Last night i did the first of the UK tour flights....but, i did not download the Mesh file as the link on the tour download page did not work (neither did the one for silverstone airport, but i found that myself)
i was just wondering what the mesh file did, and wether it will make the tour more interesting..and if so where to find it????
i have done a search on AVSIM, but just get ALL the mesh files!!!
-
There is a reasonable mesh of the UK at Avsim and Flightsim. It comes in three parts - same file names for both file libraries.
uke.zip
ukn.zip
uksw.zip
-
Thanks Bill...although what is it that the mesh files do exactily??
-
They will shape the hills and valleys for you ;)
If you fly with the default mesh in the southeast you'll see it is very flat - getting a new mesh with improved resolution cuts that out!

I hope this link can help you

also one more thing...i'm having trouble with getting silverstone!!!
i have downloaded silverstone 2002 from avsim...although this does not work for me...i have FS9...that may be the reason...but i cannot find silverstone download anywhere!!!
-
This is ok...sorted...spoke to Ben and he helped me out!!!

I have now come accross a problem with silverstone again.
although i can get the plane to silverstone by selecting "add-on screnery" on airport selection screen, i cannot select this when setting up a flight plan in Flight Sim 2004.
has anyone else flown to and from silverstone on the UK tour???
this is a real pain!!! luckily i noticed the problem before i got to fly the last 2 legs of the tour!!!
EDIT:
All i can think of doing is flying to turweston which is a little west of silverstone.
this screen shot below shows the aircraft sitting on the runway at silverstone, and turweston airport to the west!!!
The loctaion in realtion to turweston is typed in yellow beneath the picture.

What do you guys think?

You need to look in addon scenery when preparing the flight

yeah i can do that...and actually get the plane to silverstone airport. but cannot create a flight plan to go to or from it and the add-on scenery thing is not enabled!!!
i think i have a solution now anway, although will be quite difficult, i will fly to the airport that is next to silverstone (and NOT land), and then fly east towards silverstone, realistically the whole GP circuit is there, so i shouldn't miss it!!!
-
If you've got FSNav, build the FP in that and export it to FS format...
-
sorry Murry but i have no idea what you mean. but it's not a problem as i have flown from silverstone out to north of the airport, and headed for another airport that is near to silverstone and from there it is possible to see the Grand Prix circuit, so then i head for that.
That is all sorted now.

Hi,
I think you need AFCAD to build the airport information, so that FS knows it's structure (runways, taxiways, etc).
If you don't have the AFCAD file for that particular airport, try to find it in the internet or build it yourself ;)
Bye bye
-
yeah it is ok now. the airport is in FS, although i cannot use a flight plan on it, i can fly to the airport just west. then turn to the east, and because of the HUGE GP circuit, i can see the airport!!!

I have just about cobbled together an AFCAD for Silverstone but without the scenery as the two do not go together very well. Just got to get rid of a couple of houses on the runway if I can work out how.
