Title: Altimeter Setting
Post by: EHM-1617 Iain on November 14, 2005, 04:36:18 pm
On many of the EHM panels, the QNH/millibars value is not adjustable, only changeable by pressing the 'B' key, which works, but only in the US as the Transition Level everywhere else is much lower, so you want to set 1013, but B will only set the local pressure.

Is there a shortcut key to select this value so that it can be changed?

In paid-for FSUIPC you can assign a hotkey to "Set STD QNH". Don't know if that helps you any?

That would help, but my budget of roughly 0 GBP doesn't really stretch to that... I will trawl the net some

The following will help you:

Flight Information Display 2a for FS2004
Gauge that shows important information about fuel, time, temperature, speed, wind and altimeter settings. Read the readme!
by Georg Aubele

It is available for download from avsim.com.  Its a gauge you add to your main panel.  Among its functions is an option to set your transition level and QNH (in mb or in) and it will adjust it accordingly as you pass that altitude. On the way up you set it to adjust to 29.92/1013 and on the way down you adjust it to whatever the local QNH is.

Very easy to install and use.
