Is it just me or is the online flying page not working? I have recently become interested in doing some online flying but have no idea how! Help!!!
-
Online Flying Page is kind of... offline :]...
But you will find everything you need in the "EHM Online Flying Manual", available on the "Suggested Downloads" page.
-
You could also try looking on Vatsim or Ivao and there should be plenty of manuals and helping tips there as well.
-
And you could also ask here if you have anything unclear... I (hopefuly we) will be glad to help.
-
Cheers all! Very helpful. What a brilliant community!:>
-
i will fix it tomorrow
[edit] It has been fixed

Thanks a lot ;D Is it possable to have an updated online flying manual for use with FS2004 but with detailed instructions how to do everything?
Cheers

Online Flying:
IVAO
http://www.ivao.org/hq/
On IVAO there is a complete setup program for fs2004.
IVAO is using Teamspeak to contact ATC.
IVAO is developing a new pilot package complete with flightplan/voice ect.
They have also brandnew a super ATC radar client..
Vatsim
http://www.vatsim.net/
Lots off info about squawkbox online flying.
Vatsim is using AVC Advanced voice client to contact ATC.
If you also use Servinfo , you can see everyone who’s online, and if you use the fs gauge you can within FS swith channels.
This swithing also within squawkbox this is faster then servinfo.
But before flying online you must register VATSIM or IVAO,
or both, what every you like.
And if you going to fly you must always submit a flightplan, and if there’s ATC contact him, because if you dont you are kicked off the channel (if there is a Supervisor).
Willem.

You can always get help on Teamspeak by going to www.hawarden.org.uk (http://www.hawarden.org.uk)
You will need Teamspeak and to be a registered Vatsim member, there is a Teamspeak helpline here if you need extra help, plus flash movie help etc

If you want to install Java, search the web for Msjavx86.exe

Now that's handy! :)
-
That is very handy, I will give it a go as soon as my computer decides to work again :@ Thanks for all of your help!

what is that java thing u guys talk about?
-
Java is an object-oriented programming language pretty similar to C++, but much safer for executing code over a network (i.e Internet)...
The navigation menu on the IVAO HQ website is written in Java, but WinXP does not have it implemented (unlike Win98 for example)... so you need to download and install a small executable (Msjavx86.exe, as I said before)
BTW, Willem, I'm just curious... why don't you like Java?
-
Oh, here is a more formal and complete definition ;D
A network-oriented programming language invented by Sun Microsystems that is specifically designed for writing programs that can be safely downloaded to your computer through the Internet and immediately run without fear of viruses or other harm to our computer or files. Using small Java programs (called Applets), Web pages can include functions such as animations, calculators, and other fancy tricks. We can expect to see a huge variety of features added to the Web using Java, since you can write a Java program to do almost anything a regular computer program can do, and then include that Java program in a Web page.
-
Can any one make things with it, or do you need to have special knowledge to use it.??
-
As said by the formal definition, you can make programmes with it to run over the net but of course you would need to know the language to do that :)
-
I know HTML, SQL and Visual Basics....won't do will it ..??
-
Probably not......you would have to know Java :)
-
Anyone with a link to some Online Java Tutorials ??
-
You could look on java.sun.com (<- no www). You can find a lot of information there, including some tutorials.
-
Thnx.. I realy found some usefull, interesting stuff there
-
Good luck working on it ;)
-
Why do you want to start working Java?
-
I'm always interested in learning new things/...
never to old to learn I always say... and maybe it might even be easier then I think and I could become handy with it...
never hurts to give a helping hand then to the people who r now providing of with a wonderfull place to be and practice our hobby..
