Title: Lisbao-Dakar - Leg 5 - S005 Ouarzazate to Tan Tan
Post by: EHM-1703 Philip on January 04, 2006, 11:25:41 pm
Hi Jay Kay, I thought I would start the leg 5 Photos with my little trip!

Climbing out of GMMZ, less wind and good visibility today.
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/7982/1climbinga4bk.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Reaching cruise at FL260. Much calmer weather than yesterday although the winds weren't as kind maxing out at 300 kn GS. The clouds were building over the Atlas mountains.
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/83/2cruisinga7tb.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

As we reached the coast the clouds cleared again with just a thin layer of mist over land.
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/8941/2cruisingfl260d7ic.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

As we started the decent we turned inland and there was a few broken clouds to obscure an almost perfect sky.
(http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7618/3decenta0hv.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

No landing aids on hand at LMAT so it was a visual approach and although I was a little left on finals, it was pretty close! No sign of those clouds on touchdown!
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/7875/6touchdownd8zo.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

On the blocks and shutdown just in time for a glorious sunset. 37 PAX delivered safe and sound.
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/2459/7blocksa8rc.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

That was the most enjoyable leg so far for me. Timed it just right for the sun to be in my face most of the way ;)

See you all tomorrow for the next leg, almost halfway!

Cheers.

Great shots there Phil ! I am glad you seemed to like the format I was doing this in, this way it does not feel like I am alone out there ;)

Just doing the final check before "having" to take-off into a glorious desert sunset

(http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/4316/yafss0017cn.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

... told you it was glorious !! ...

(http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/5797/yafss0025kd.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

After so much sand it is very good to see some blue other then the sky ...

(http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/5708/yafss0030ew.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Field in view, a nice and quiet flight, unlike the people on the ground. I only have to deal with winds up here ;)

(http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/6679/yafss0040mz.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

I hope you enjoyed them !!
