EDIT: This is the "official" discussion thread for this event now.
To celebrate the opening of EuroHarmony's first continental US hub, you're invited to make use of an EHM-provided ATC team on the evening of the 24th March! Make any flight to/from KATL (between 1930Z and 2130Z) and receive ATC from EuroHarmony team members.
We're recommending short "local" flights - Atlanta/Chicago, Atlanta/Miami, Atlanta/New York (or the reciprocals) but it's entirely up to pilots to make the choice. So, come along and make use of the side of EHM we try to keep quiet about... ;D
Your ATC team will be:
- GND - Christian Bakke (EHM-1651)
- TWR - Murray Crane (EHM-0654)
- APP - Ben Horsfall (EHM-1365)
- CTR - Sven Porschmann (EHM-1760)
LINKS: (Announcement post (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=2403)) and (Event page (http://www.euroharmony.com/site/events/OLD_fly-in.htm)).

I can do ground if you want me to:]
-
Thanks Christian, I'll pencil you in for ground. Any other takers for ATC positions - I'm happy to vacate TWR as well (it'd allow me to OBS tower in IvAi for screenshoting purposes).
Kendy/Gergely - either of you feel like taking on CTR on Friday evening?
-
Got a time - Fridays are tight for me?
-
Not as yet, what's your availability like Iain?
-
Hi,
Don't think that I wanted to monopolize the day ;D ..
If you all think of a better day, feel free to change it.
Regards,
-
hi I don't know how the FRAs in the US are but if a C1 can make CTR I will do it
-
Laterr is better for me. I don't get back until 2130Z at best. This is probably too late for our European cousins.
-
The US FRAs seem quite low (C1 unless otherwise for CTR... etc...)
Iain, that's probably a little too late (I was thinking 2000Z-2100Z maybe...) We could always re-run the event on the Sunday morning a week hence... ;D
-
ok I tried it out I will do center if you like
-
Thanks Sven, you're pencilled in as CTR. List is currently:-
GND - Christian Bakke
TWR - Me (Murray Crane)
APP - Ben Horsfall
CTR - Sven Porschmann
For sectorfiles, best I can offer is the IVAO sectorfile creator (http://www.ivao.aero/db/pc/facility.asp?Facility=KATL), as for charts, we still have the chartpack (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/downloads/charts/KATL-full.rar) I built for the first long flight event.
-
Does the IVAO sector file creator include SIDS and STAR's ??
-
I have a Sectorfile for the KZTL created by the sector file creator and it has some SIDs and an STARs but not all for KATL. But a friend of mine will configure a Vatsim sectorfile for us. I hope I have it before 24. and that it is a bit better.
-
If it's the one from VATSIM KZTL ARTCC, I've just finished re-jigging it for IvAc use myself (warning, *BIG* sectorfile, but it works for all facilities in the KZTL ARTCC, and has KATL GND details on it). Download link->(download (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/downloads/sectors/ztl581.zip)) and from the same VATSIM ARTCC we get (a great aliases file (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/downloads/sectors/alias.txt)) as well... now if only IVAO and VATSIM could get along well enough to use the same sector file format...
Rico, this one has a load of SID/STARs - have a look if it has what you're after...
-
Thnx for the file .. was indeed what I was looking for
*EDIT* hmm.. those SID and STAR's look like spiderwebs :s
-
Not as "high-res" as I've become used to (and built for myself...) but all the *actual* SID/STARs I've looked at in that sector seem correct (I've flown both DAWGS and MUNSN, and the sector shows them correctly, if a little squared off)...
Be warned, this *is* a VATSIM sector and as such contains lots of additional airspace/facility things in the SID/STAR "section" that will be entirely meaningless on IVAO. It also has some information in it that IvAc basically ignores (just looking at all the files ASRC uses, there are a few things in it that I'd love IvAc to do...)
-
i was hoping something like this would happen!
Well i will be inbound from WIII in the 777-200LR. I will have to time it perfectly so i arrive around 8 - 8:30 pm!
will see you guys then!
-
Murray, u make sector files ..??
I have one for EGLL tower that maybe you can tweak/edit for me ..??
-
Not as such, no... But I have added SID/STARs to other peoples sectorfiles before now... It's actually fairly easy - getting LAT/LONG into decimal tends to be the difficult job.
-
Hi,
I will fly an inbound flight to KATL and will arrive around 2030Z.
Gergely
-
Hi,
All I can say is that I am going to test ATC in 2 emergency procedures. ;D
I will fly our excelent-brand-top-notch-made-by-excelency Embraer 145XR.
Regards,
-
Argh!! Isn't it always the way!!!
My employer has a new software release going "out the door" today. I may arrive a little late (can't be sure, it was supposed to be out already but...)
-
Well, in this case, maybe we should have a backup for your position at TWR ...
I think you are afraid of my emergency procedures, Murray ;D ;D ...
-
Uh oh :s :s :s :s :s
...I didn't realise it was tonight.
I have had an exam scheduled for ages now and I really can't cancel it. I feel so bad now :{:{:{ :$ . Is anyone able to take APP?
*crawls into a hole and bashes head against wall along the way*
-
If it's a C1 exam, hold it at KATL ;)
-
That's a great idea Murray!
Bring the guy to KATL .. I have a few surprise for him ;D ..
-
Okay, I'm Airborne. I'm afraid I may a bit late, didn't finish work till late and I'm flying the 737 down from Boston. ETA 2120Z
-
Kewl !! 3 atc, 5 flight so far ... have fun guys..
Can't participate.. training for my C1 Exam at Heathrow
-
For any one joining in, the Company Team Speak channel is open on NL.TS.IVAO.AERO. See you there!
-
I will be flying a local VFR flight around the Atlanta area as G-TIMB.
-
Oh, d**n TS. I lost voice on the final approach, and it was complete fog, I did not see anything, only Bruno's tag. I could not concentrate on the speed, so the plane could not maintain altitude, and finally I crashed into the ground before the runway... I ran through some utility buildings and the cargo terminals before I stopped. At least 300 dead... sorry guys, I really wanted to make a perfect landing.
Maybe next time. Thank you for the event, it was well organized, and we had again dense traffic. ;) Oh, and I hope that nasty passenger from Bruno's plane will never get an EHM ticket anymore ! ;D
-
Thanks to Sven & Murray for the excellent ATC service, made for a really enjoyable night. Especially because of the late runway change at KATL due to the wreckage of one of our aircraft being strewn across the south side of the airport. (CNN has reported that KATL 27R & 27L will be closed for at least 1 week during the NTSB investigation and for cleanup!) :P
-
Has it all wrapped up yet or can I join the fun?
-
Sorry mate, Murray just passed out due to malnutrition so TWR and CTR are closed. You missed a fun night, the wind at KATL was howling!!!!! (If you log on now you may still see the flames from Roberts wreckage! lol ;) )
-
I invoke management privilege to have a jolly good swear...
ARSEBISCUITS!
FSScreen crashed out but didn't bother telling me at all (Windows normally gives me some sort of hint) so I have no screenies of the event at all!
:(
(And why is the "crying smiley" the only one that doesn't work...)
An enjoyable event from my end, nice to keep my TWR skills from getting rusty (Ben, I meant it about the APP training!).
My thanks to everyone that took part - I have a list but I'm not 100% sure of it, I was expecting to trawl my screenies to get the complete list... Screenshots, flight reports, NTSB investigations (Robert!!!) greatfully accepted.
I'm away to check on how the C2 at EGKK has gone, then West Wing off the TiVo (woohoo! FFwd through all the ads).
-
Sorry mate, I didn't take any tonight cos I was so late getting in, no one was left!
-
Lot of sleep and a little food later... Before I put up the starts of the post-event page, here's my list of participants, hopefully in callsign order:
ATC
Myself
Christian Bakke
Sven Porschmann
Pilots
Gergely Kosa
Bruno Falcao
Robert Szikszo
Tim Berry
Terence Craik
Phil Nutt
Conrad Oldcorn
Anyone left out??? (If not, that's ten, so we're keeping participation levels about the same despite very different events...)
Another long event next month - here's a hint for you all, download numbers #39970 (http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=39970) and #39971 (http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=39971) on AVSIM ;)
EDIT: Apologies to Bruno, just noticed his name was spelt wrong.
-
Me, me, me! You forgot me! ;D
My little Cirrus SR22 had to fight that wind!
Japan sounds nice!
-
Don't know why I didn't add you to the page Tim, you're on my hand-written list from last night (which I did immediately after the event, while my memory was "fresh")
All fixed now.
MINOR UPDATE: Got your flight report(s) Robert, thank you. I'm having to spend today fixing my FS PC (where I would normally build the post-event page) as it's been getting flakey over the past week, so don't expect it to be up today.
BUMP: Post-event page is up (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/site/events/ev200603.htm). Link provided for Rico. ;D
-
Hi,
I simulated a sick passenger after a departure from KATL, and I had to go back around to KATL Again.
On the second time, I was going to simulate an engine failure, but unfortunately my ISP provider didn't like it and broke my internet account until sunday afteroon :o ...
What a ride and congratulations to all you that participated! Definately we are getting more and more members on the monthly Fly-In ...
Regards,
-
