The GB-EC and GB-EAC have been working hard and we know you've been waiting for this one so here it is!...

FULL EVENT DETAILS ON THIS PAGE (http://ivao.co.uk/ivao/events/event_details.php?id=26)

60 years on and Heathrow is the World's busiest international airport.. Founded in 1946, with one terminal – an army surplus tent, a short distance from the aircraft – there are now four terminals with a fifth under construction. Over 90 airlines flying to 190 destinations carrying over 67 million people per year call Heathrow home.

To mark Heathrow’s diamond jubilee IVAO GB division is proud to announce a commemorative event to which all International and Domestic flights are invited.
You can expect full coverage at Heathrow airport which includes two tower controllers and three Directors (Intermediate Director North, Intermediate Director South and Final Director) as well as both London Control sectors. If you've not experienced our "Real as it gets" Heathrow procedures yet then your in for a most enjoyable flight.

To help us provide better ATC service to you and for you please schedule your flights on the IVAO Booking System by clicking HERE (http://www.ivao.aero/flightops/auto_scheduling/timetable.asp?evento=338).

Pilots participating in the Heathrow Birthday event who have scheduled their flights will receive the Aviation Celebration Tours and Events Award after verification of their flights.

But wait... theres more...

To reward one lucky pilot during the event, our friends at UK2000 have donated a copy of the fantastic Heathrow Pro scenery. The pilot landing or departing Heathrow (EGLL) closest to the mystery time will receive this reward.

(Don't even think of asking what that mystery time is cause I don't know it and nobody is going to tell you!)

Hope To See You There !!!

Pilots,

Plz make sure that when booking a flight for this event, DO NOT check the check box next to: Don't assign this flight to me but make it available for all interested ..

If you do, we wont be able to verify your VID to the flight, in order to assign the Event Award.

if you did book a flight and checked the box, plz return to the booking page here: http://www.ivao.aero/flightops/auto_scheduling/timetable.asp?evento=338 and press the BOOK link next to the flight..

Quick word of "warning" about the IVAO flight booking system; it only likes uniquely flight numbered flights and appears to only allow a single booking per flight.

Obviously, all EHM participants will be flying EHM5037, and all the FlyUK participants will have a flight number of their own... so... when building yourself a flight for this event, use "EHM5037-?" (replacing ? with a number or letter... check what's already there using the "sheet" below) and use a departure time 5 minutes after whatever is "current" (I've done a rebook of the flight I added as "EHM5037-1" with a departure of 18:35, arrival 20:20. This is 5 minutes after Bruno's booking, which I am calling "EHM5037-0")

I'll maintain the "spreadsheet" for EuroHarmony pilots, email me directly or post here with your "bookings" (I need to know what aircraft you are intending to use) and I'll ensure your flights get added...

EHM5037-0 18:30 20:15 EHM0978 (Bruno Falcao)
EHM5037-1 18:35 20:20 EHM0654 (Murray Crane)
EHM5037-2 18:40 20:25 EHM1343 (Jonathan Rasmussen)
EHM5037-3 18:45 20:30 EHM1883 (Matt Haywood)
EHM5037-4 18:50 20:35
EHM5037-5 18:55 20:40
EHM5037-6 19:00 20:45 EHM1617 (Iain Butler)
EHM5037-7 19:05 20:50

(Where are the HTML tables when you actually need them...)

I'll book the -3 slot. It's late today, so I'll book myself in tomorrow, but can I be added to that list up there?

Is it ok if I use the Dash 8? I like that plane? If not, I'll do another flight for EHM, so either way, passengers get tranported!

Matt,

You won't half be slow compared to the rest of us (including all the FlyUK folks at a guess) but there's no reason I can think of why you can't use the Dash if it's got long enough legs for a flight of that distance. Just so you know, there is no class restrictions on events - as a Class 2 (or 3) pilot you would be allowed to fly any Class airplane for this (the suggestion being take a jet... ;D)

Added you to the event roster either way.

Hi Matt,

Please translate the sentence "A Harmonia de euro é a melhor linha aérea virtual no mundo" to "EuroHarmony é a melhor companhia aérea virtual do mundo" ;D ..

When you translated those texts, you ALSO translated the word "EuroHarmony" which can't be translated because it's a brandmark name.

Regards, ;)

When I did EuroHarmony, I didn't know how to do it, so I just seperated EuroHarmony to Euro Harmony, which can be translated, but I guess you're right. Once again, thanks for pointing that out.;D

Murray - checking over my calendar it looks like I won't be able to make that slot. Would you mind pushing me back to the number -6 slot departing at 1900Z and thus arriving 2045Z?

I'll sort the IVAO event booking to this effect, changing to number -6 flight number.

I'll have the -2 slot por favor...Boeing 738, no 767, no 738....lol Boeing 738 it is!

i clicked the book link next to the flight on the schedule page, and it disappeared:sI'm not entirely sure if thats supposed to do that, so someone correct me if i did it wrong...

In theory i should have booked myself for it

Done and done.

<strike>Razza, I'll check the IVAO booking system when West Wing finishes (15 mins ish)</strike>

Razza, the flight booking system didn't complain when I added EHM5037-2, so I'm gonna guess you did something wrong :)

Is in there now, with FP, assumed you'd be flying the B738.

IMPORTANT INFO!!!

I'm practicing this event a butt-load at the moment, want it to go with as few hitches as I can manage, and this morning's METAR has made me realise that should we have a 32s departure from LFML, we won't be able to go via MTL as the first VOR after SID - there is no MTL SID for the 32s.

I suspect the routing from AVN won't be too far away from what we already have, but I'll post a second route *ON THE EVENT PAGE* just in case...

EDIT: Very easy... updated the event page with all departure information, but basically if we require a 32 dep, that's AVN7C, and AVN to MTL is UZ16.

OK guys I have a slight problem, I sealed my flight yesterday but today I noticed I had done so with the wrong time slots so I decided to change it, great, it doesnt let me delete. I've made another flight with callsing EHM-5037-5 instead of EHM5037-5, I hope this is not a problem.

A problem has occured.

I am 90% sure I can make my flight, just one problem has occured. A virus has got onto my computer.

I have two computers in my house. This one hasn't got flight simulator on it, the other one has, which now has a virus.

I've called the "computer guy" and he says he'll be in at 09:00(z) tomorrow. My flight is at 18:45z, so if he gets it fixed, I can do the flight. If he can't, I can't.

I'll let everyone know if I can't do it by 12:00z, just in case anybody will fill me in. I'd really like to do this flight, as it's a once in a decade chance, so hopefully it's just spyware that can easily be defeated.

If any of you can help, here is whats wrong:

computer will switch on
Desktop background has been switched by idiots who gave me the virus
can't access internet
big brother (spyware) is watching me.
all programs are there, but not clickable.

I really hope I don't have to do all that uninstall install.

I have Norton, but it's a bit like EuroHolidays. It goes on holiday when it wants to.

Matt,

Given you're young, I'm gonna guess that software purchasing isn't your "domain" (it's up to your folks is what I'm hinting at...)

As an IT professional I have nothing but disdain for anything written by the Symantec Corporation. It's universally slow and memory hoggy, and uninstalling is a pig of a job (and the company I work for uses Symantec AV Corporate... not my choice I hasten to add)

Try to convince your folks to buy either BitDefender AV or Kaspersky AV. I recommend both equally (I prefer Kaspersky but use BItDefender... go figure...)

Now, when you say your backdrop has changed, and you can't click on programs (I assume you mean on the desktop) that sounds for all the world like the old "take a screengrab of the desktop, make that screengrab the backdrop, hide/delete all the icons on the desktop..." gag. Does the start menu still work? Use the Windows key (with the flag on it) rather than the mouse...

Check your profile ( C:\Documents and Settings\<username> ) in Windows Explorer (WinKey+E) see if there *is* a Desktop folder in there, and if it still has contents... Have you tried booting into safe mode (with network) and seen if Network works OK there. It may not be quite as bad as it first looks...

Finally, there are a lot of "free" anti-virus tools out there if you still have Internet access. Avast! is free for home users, works well enough, and is what I use on all my FS PCs (I run a total of 5 PCs for flight sim, needless to say I only use BitDefender on two - my main PC (this one) and my laptop, as per the licensing agreement that comes with BitDefender... all the rest have Avast!)

I just want to ask one more thing. I'm using that PMDG instead, but in the FMC, I can't find either SIDS, AVN7C and MTL7B. Also, everytime i put in an airway entry (to the left of the VOR, ISEC, NDB) it always says INVALID ENTRY. Should I just ignore this, and do a flight that uses DIRECT, or is there a problem?
Title: London Heathrow\'s 60th Birthday Event
Post by: EHM-0654 Murray on May 31, 2006, 02:06:33 pm
Eep! You've not got a "complete" NAVDATA install there Matt, and as I said in my post in your other thread about FMCs, now is not the time to go looking for it, especially with the PMDG FMC.

But, to point you in the right direction, you'll need the PMDG AIRAC and all-in-one SID/STAR package from http://www.navdata.at just for starters...

The one resource I can't point you at is Terry Yingling's SIDSTAR package (best there is for the PMDG), 'cause his site appears to have fallen off the intarweb.

Best of luck.

Well, at least I've tried the flight and can get to Heathrow. I'm sorry about all this.

I've taken your advice, and not start installing things, but I had a look at the files and where do you put the all in one sid/star package?

I'll start this stuff when the event is done. For now, I'm going to try my best in the flight, and hopefully, it will go well.

I'd like to thank you for so much help!

I've got all the charts. I was thinking maybe I could somehow just follow the Chart without an FMC, and use FSnavigator to tell me where to go, so at least I can get out of there.

At Heathrow, everything is fine. The FMC will accept BIG3B

something weird just happened to me.

While I was taking off, suddenly, the plane twisted itself round, and then crashed upside down. Weird things have been happening on my computer, and I think that there's something seriously wrong with my computer. It keeps on crashing, and weird things just happen. If you saw this happen to me while taking off, can you please describe what it looked like from your view, as I just sat still during the whole thing.

Don't be too sad Matt, you're not the only "victim" of this event...

Conrad "crashed" out (literally) over Paris, and my FS died on the approach to OCK VOR for the hold (had been going for a long time before that...)

I'm watching it in IVAC now (uses way less resources than FS, unsurprisingly...) and my hat is off to those pilots still flying - Chapeau!

I did a flip. I must say actually, even though I never got to fly properly, Doing a backward flip and then having wind push me over was the best rollercoaster someone can have!

It really was monty pythons flying circus up there!

"can't believe you guys didn't lose it with some of us pillocks although I must admit"

Pillocks? You weren't refering to me were you?

This was just awesome!!

The best event I ever participated in !! 300+!! Traffics, of wich 190 went through me as arrivals... just incredible!

300+, divided by 10 hours, makes 30+ traffics an hour, what makes 1 plane every 2 minutes...Sound like a llot of airports we all know in RL

Traffic flow was good, considering some pilots spend 34 minutes in a stack/hold :%

And with opening 27R also for arrivals the flow became even better...
I barely had time to put a bottle of beer to my mouth hahaha... managed to sneak 3 6-packs through though !  ;D

Though sometimes pilots actions almost gave me multiple strokes and heart attacks, it was great to watch and even greater to participate in. The highest 'in sequence" number I isued was 7, and pilots were sometimes getting landing clearances as low as 300ft ! :o

I had a blast and I'm sure ya'll had also !!

All I can say is: "Up to the next one" :8

Great event.

Congratulations to all of you!

I got 20 mins on hold, stepping down from FL120 to 7000ft ;) ..

Was nice, and I think i lost a little my head with you Rico (i dont remember) because you gave me clearance about 500ft before landing and I was starting to get annoyed with it!

Sorry, was the excitement...

Regards,

Hahaha, I realy don't remember Bruno, might be :]  I remember you coming in and all, but not what was said ;D

I had to get used to the low clearances also at first, but that's how it goes at LHR in RL too...Pilots have to land with hands on throttle for if they get issued a G/O

I hope ya'll had fun and hope too see you at our next event!!

And a big hooray for Murray also.. nicely prepared and done m8..! the events page is just awesome and easy too use!! What would we do with out you !!

Regards,

Have someone else doing it, of course... ;)

Rico, I'm just sorry I didn't have the opportunity to approach/land... I had flown that flight about a dozen times in the days and weeks before without any problems at all... last night everything went T.U. Had to make do with "monitoring" Bruno and Iain landing...

I was put on hold over TIGER, and only had about 30 min. left of internet time, my dad had to do some important stuff. A few minutes later we got a notice over the TS channel expecting 60 min. of delay. I decided to disconnect rather than cause problems closer to EGLL. So I couldnt finish the flight... I was pretty sad about it. More reason to try harder on the next one.

Cheers to all who participated.

Alex;)

It was a shame that I wasn't able to get there. Marseille was so busy that I didn't want to face Heathrow!
