Title: Miniature models
Post by: EHM-0744 Alex on August 15, 2006, 09:52:33 pm
Hey everybody,

I have a small collection of HERPA 1:500 model planes, it is not much however I take great pride in them:)

They are:

- Airbus house colors A300-600QT (Beluga)
- Qantas Boeing 737-800
- Iberia A340-600
- AeBal Boeing 717
- Lufthansa A380-800
- Air New Zealand Boeing 747-400 (Lord of the rings special colors)

Do any EHM members have a collection of their own? (No importance in difference of brand/size)

Cheers!

Alex;)

My dad has a few minatures. There is an SR71, F4 Phantom, F-111F, T38, several C5s and two Boeing 747-400s in Air New Zealand and United Airlines colors, and a few more somewhere else (can't find them lol) ;)

Conrad, where are you planning on going in your gap year?

I have quite a few, but only 1 is civilian (none HERPA, mostly Maisto)

Many years ago in a galaxy far, far away...errr...so when I was a kid, I had many of these planes. I collected mostly 1:72 size fighters from the WW2 and coldwar era. But almost all of them are broken, or were so dirty I had to trash them.

I kept only a USS Enterprise 1:350 carrier. It is a very nice Revell kit, although I could not paint it so nice because never had a spray-gun. In the past I was dreaming to buy a 1:350 version of the carrier from Tamiya, and later extend it to an RC boat, as it is prepared for that by default.

Now I am dreaming of turning back to this lonely/money taking hobby, and maybe build some 747s, or other big airliners.

It is a great fun, but I think the best if you have some glass vitrin for the models, or if you make complete so-called diorama from them...needs a lot of money, a lot of time, a lot of patient..even from the family ;)

I mainly make models, I don't like buying the metal types, I make mine from those kind of Revel box things, but anyway, these are the planes, and three ships I have made:

A320
DC3 Dakota
Cessna Citation II
Piper Warrior
A340

RMS. Titanic
S.S. Arizona
RMS. Queen Mary
M.S. Hurty Gruetegen (Norwegian ship. I made it in Norway in my spare time.)

Hi

I love making that kind of models

Stafan (EHM1805) and I have a garage with the necessary equipment where we build Revell kits in scale 1:144.
At present we´re making the 747-400 (Lufthansa) and the A380 (Emirates)

Our next projects will be the A380 in the Airbus "First Livery" and the A321 (most likely in the Lufthansa annivresary - livery) and in the future there will follow an Diorama for them.

To Robert:

That all takes really a lot of patience. I think mostly form the girlfriends / wifes ;D

And you don´t need an spraygun necessarily, some time ago I´ve built an Dornier DoX
and painted it only with an paintbrush. But I recieved really acceptable results althaug an spraygun is much better.
