Today as I was approaching Viena (LOWW) from Athens and when being below 10000´I was commanded by the controller to speed up to a minimum of 270 kias. Even though I warned him that I was below 10,000´he insisted so I had to do it. Of course, I received a 150 points penalty.
How can we do in future events to deal with this?
Any input is apprecaited.

Hi Hector,
As far as I am aware there is no way to overide a penalty on PP, even from the server.
It is very infrequent that you will be asked to do this and the controller was wrong to do so in my eyes. He should have slowed the traffic behind you and kept you at a maximum of 250 unless there was an emergency inbound in which case if you were intefering with it you should have been stacked or diverted.
I am sure the ATC guys can put me right if that is wrong. You can be issued high speed clearance or you can request high speed clearance under 10,000 but I didn't think it was mandatory to maintain a higher speed.

Well he would have done it for separation, but 270 knots is extreme. I think it would be good to leave it down to poor separation and poor judgment by the controller. Next time, ask the controller why you are needed to go this fast! Also if it was that bad, then he should have given you a new heading or even new altitude. Question him! I would :P
If a controller does something rash, they should usually explain why ie "EHMXXX turn left heading 260 degrees for separation"

Hi folks,
10000ft Speed Limit
The legal restriction in the US allows you to travel at 250
knots OR your slowest clean maneuvering speed, whichever is faster.”
(If an online ATC controller tries to argue the 250 knot limit with you: Simply refer them to
91.117
paragraph (d). “If the minimum safe airspeed for any particular operation is greater then the
maximum speed prescribed in this section, the aircraft may be operated at that minimum speed.”)
Cheers,

Hello,
speed limit under FL100 is 250 kts KIAS. If you request or you are approved for high speed under 10'000ft means that you are allowed to fly till 280 kts KIAS.
Our PP system is also set on this mark 280 kts IAS under FL100.
So when you got from ATC to speed up to 270 kts does this mean that you should fly 270 IAS. If you did, you shouldn't get this penalty points......
best regards,
Kendy

When I made some of the PP rules in the time PP was created I set the max. speed below 10.000 ft to 280 kts. So I can confirm what Kendy writes or the rules must have been changed after I left.

Hi guys,
thanks for your input.
In looking at my FS Flight Keeper Events list you are right. It was a moment, maybe one or two seconds that the speed hit 281 when I was at 4000´. I normally don´t argue with controllers however even though I adviced him of the fact that I was under 10000 he just commanded to go "to 270 or faster". At that moment I was at 245 and because I normally disconnect the autothrottle below 10000, when I applied power it then hit 281.
Anyhow, again thanks for the input.

Like I thought..... one second is one too long,
Anyway the controller (min C1) should know that a high speed clearance is ALWAYS till 280 IAS, because he should inform the pilot (who doesn't know it (student pilot maybe)) when he is flying to fast,....of course the 280 IAS can be hidden by an emergency

kendy
@ Marten: nothing changed still the same rules in this case ;)
