I discovered this yesterday and thought that it looked quite good.
"The Bootleggers Guide to Africa is a virtual air race consisting of ten (10) adventure-based flights ("stages" in BOTA-speak), which pilots complete in as short a time as possible"
It is completed offline with specially provided software calculating your time and giving you waypoints etc.
Although it is a race, there are still very strict rules on such things as taxi speeds, rough landings and overspeed. In other words, you are still expected to fly the plane in a safe manner.
The race can be entered by single pilots on their own or by VA's. Take a look and see what you think. I know I'll be taking part!

It's organized every year. You donwload some software that monitors your progress through a set of flights. I remember last year they had to fly on the moon.

Very odd. Never seen that before.

As I only have FS2002 and the BotA 2004 is only
compatible with FS2004, I downloaded the
last year's files from their archive, and I can
say I'm quite enjoying the challenges, altough I
had to retry 3 times the 2nd stage as landing on
the minilake with that big strange flying frigate
needs an -extremely- low speed.
Check it out in the archive section of their website.
Ciao ciao!
