Took of from a very foggy Heathrow!

And landing at a dark and snowy Helsinki.

In the Real World Heathrow is currently closed to all domestic traffic and there are major delays on international flights due to the dense fog!!!! Could be worse, at least there are no leaves on the runway or god forbid 1mm of snow to really close Heathrow down!!! :)

On Monday Eindhoven Airport (EHEH) was closed completely for all departing and arriving traffic. Arrivals had to go to Dortmund and Frankfurt, departures were not rerouted except for one which departed from Maastricht Airport (EHBK). Looking to see what happens during the holidays :)

Not to mention the QNH of 1041....soo high, + 91% humidity - so much moisture in the air, its a nightmare.

Especially the fact it also freezes makes it a nightmare. Getting here to a QNH of 1039 with 100% humidity, visibility of 1200 meters and mist (but still +3.0 Celsius).

Whoa, but still not as bad as in JFK one day, i went on ivao planning to do a flight, but when i connected, i couldnt even see the terminal building right in fron of me!:o

All of the British Airports were closed today, except Birmingham!

Newcastle, Durham Tees Valley where open, I am fairly sure all airports north of Coventry where open, and there were diversions to these airports...

I think that all major UK airports have suffered delays and problems due to taking on the extra traffic being diverted from other airports that have been affected by the fog.

Well, all I heard is that most of the flights up north have been diverted, Coventry is also closed, and I have a feeling Birmingham is going to be closed, considering I can't even see the house across my road, but earlier, there was no fog.

Did a CATIII full auto at LHR today (no other choice!). Will post some screenys.

I too managed to do some near 0 visibility on CATIII using 747, real weather settings in London and Italy. Apart from high beats per minute of the heart, and the engine sound, your instincts are the only one to help you think, that the ILS is showing you the right stuff, because many a time landing was done without having the required visibility at DH too.
Thats the good part of simulation, you think its fine, you carry on with the descent, and when you see that you are too low etc, you can restart and try all over again with a grin on your face!!! Imagine the real pilots plight.!! Thats the reason he is trained on ILS and needs to do it to perfection as compared to VFR.
