Title: IVAO FC Practical Exam
Post by: EHM-2029 Sotiris on March 20, 2007, 01:56:32 am
Hi All,

has anyone passed the FC practical exam at IVAO?
I just completed my theoretical one successfully and thinking about requesting practical one.
However, before I do that I want to hear from anyone who has passed it before me so I can get a feel for what is like.

IVAO have produced a nice detailed briefing guide, but that can't compare to the experience of people who have actually taken the exam for real. (Especially the ones that passed).

So, any experiences, thought or hints are welcome.
Also, does it matter which division I choose for the exam?
Do standards vary between divisions?

Sotiris - I'm in the same boat as you, but Ben Horsfall was kind enough to offer me a practical training session. It basically consists of some reasonably simple VFR flying around an airport of your choosing (with the agreement of the examiner), then some reasonably simple IFR flying around the same airport, in a turboprop of your choosing (if I can, I'm going to do it in the DreamFleet Beech Baron 58, rather than the FSD Piaggio P180 as I did for my training).

Just want to ask you guys one thing. I'm in the same situation as Sotiris too. It says you need knowledge of NDB's and VOR's. I understand VOR's, but I haven't used NDB's in a long time. Is it crucial to understand them very well, or is it just a little amount you need?

It's all pretty basic stuff Matt. Certainly no more than you can learn/read in the FS Flight School bit.
