Title: Birthday fly-in EHM6 years
Post by: EHM-1651 Christian on May 26, 2007, 08:21:04 pm
I decided to go out and check if the TCAS on Murray and Brunos aircrafts worked;D

Murray got disturbed in his cooking of dinner while I paid a visit so I take that as a yes for his TCAS to be ok.
Hope you didn't burn your dinner Murray;)

Well, this truly was a brilliant event! I can only say one bad thing about it, and that's for a lot of the time across the Atlantic, I had to go and do other stuff, but luckily my plane managed to keep up with the rest of you while I was gone. I was lucky enough that when I came back to fly, I was caught in a 67 knot wind above Canada. That gave me and Javier something to play with!

Anyway, here is my, uh, massive batch of photos for you!

Leg 1: LSZH - EGLL with Javier and Ben

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures at the beginning at the gate, but I got to take some holding at the runway. Here is my first picture, with me behind Ben, holding at the runway:

Ben taking off, and me powering up the engines:

a bit of the Alps:

at cruising altitude:

Javier coming into view. Nice turning!

Over the channel. Starting to get prepared for the approach towards Heathrow
(http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa141/ehm1883/fsscr022.jpg)

Fog in London. Anything else new?

on finals in different views:

Landed at last:

Javier landing at last:

Ben landing. He had a great landing. Right on the centerline.

Finally, the finished flight. We went straight to Pizza Hut after that:

Leg 2: EGLL-KATL with everybody!

Unfortunately, it was late for Ben, and only me and Javier could go. uh, great start!

Javier fixed that problem with slew:

Taxiing to the runway:

Javier powering down the runway:

Across the Atlantic:

Land at last; Canada!

Landed!

Javier landing:

all the way from LSZH, we were now in KATL. Amazing really:

Thanks to Bruno and Murray and everyone else for making this event possible! This is the second event I've done where nothing has gone "horribly wrong"! Thanks for the fun, and once again, happy Bday EHM!;D

It was great indeed. My only question: How did you guys do to label the flight EHM9999? I could not.
I opened the FLLogger but found no way to do it.
Appreciate your input for the next event.
Regards,
Hector

Bit late to be telling you this now Hector, but all the "legs" for yesterday are timetable flights!

Ooh, and another thing for those with pictures, don't forget to upload at least one to the gallery and attach it to the event page... Maarten's excellent new fly-in manager links into the gallery, so if we all add at least one picture, the post fly-in page will have a pictorial record (added my one picture already... Christian, you so didn't get to see what I was *really* flying...)

Hi guys,

Great pictures and great event! After a 16h day of flights (yes, I made 3 flights yesterday, the first one took off at 07:30am!) my flight simulator decided to "die" 2 nm before the landing at Atlanta :@. I was seeing the runway and talking to Razza (he was on a chopper taking photos) and tcham tcham! Blue screen!

Congratulations to all of the pilots that totally or partially participated on this event. I am sure this event will revamp us again to the great online nights on IVAO and VATSIM!

Hector, the EHM-9999 flight can only be inserted on the site, and not on the Flight Logger. So, use the "PIREP" feature on the ite to sent it.

Regards,

Hey guys, this has been the best fly-in I've ever done ;)
I did a smaller flight from KJFK to KATL and I missed Javier and Matt by 30mins but I've been able to see Bruno approach (sorry Bruno about your pc crash on final :| ), Trevor's perfect landing and I've been able to do a lot of practice on the Agusta heli with Razza ;D

This is how Ivae looked like after I took off from New York. The first one of the group is Matt (EHM1883), then Javier (EHM1821), me (EHM1612), Bruno is on Canada (EHM948), Christian (EHM1651), Murray (EHM0654), Trevor (EHM1829) and in the middle of the ocean there were Hector and Franz.

This is the EHM group

I used the Tupolev Tu-204, from EuroBusiness, I love it, it is so easy to fly! The weather in Atlanta wasn't that good, we had fog and scattered clouds, 9miles visibility.
Approaching rwy 26L

Then Razza joined me with the Agusta helicopter; Bruno was the next one to land and he was 1h away from KATL so we decided to fly the heli on the city.

We found a big building and we decided to land on top of it. Razza did a great manouver, really amazing.

He landed very smoothly

Soon after I landed too but my landing was far more rought then Razza's ;D

Then we still had 20mins to Bruno's landing, and we decided to land on an athletics field in the city.

We headed back to the airport ready to take photos of Bruno's landing

And finally, the 744 appears, unluckily on final Bruno's pc crashed and I think this is the last photo we had been able to take of his landing.

Unfortunately my pc crashed few minutes before Murray's arrival, I hope Razza took some photos of his landing.
I connected again as soon as possible and it's Trevor's turn to land on rwy 27R. On this photo there's Trevor and his 744 and Razza on the background.

His landing was great, he did a great job flying the online fly-in on PP and with those winds, it's amazing that he got only 60 points of FAC! ;)

The next pilots were Hector and Franz, but they were 4hours away from KATL, so I decided to go offline and have some sleep ;)

Thanks to everyone who joined the fly in and very big thanks to the MT to organize it!
And of course, Happy B'day EHM!! ;)
