Good day to you all
My computer has the usual drives installed ie cdrom/dvd,cdrewriter/dvd,floppy,media etc.My question is this..my cdrewriterdvd drive(the one i install my programs from)does not show the correct drive icon ie it shows this ....MMC/SD(K)and what looks like a floppy disc icon when it should show a a CD on top of a CD Drive type icon and it has been causing me problems trying to install new programs from it.
I have recently added an external drive(but i don't always have it plugged in)and i disabled my floppy drive as well.
if that lot makes any sense can you help?something aint right.
cheers Andy

It does make sense and it looks like a lettering conflict that remained from when you installed you plug-in drive.
Let me do a quick search around and will reply soon.
--- EDIT ---
Right,
I had a similar problem when there were drive letter conflicts with my iPod, a network drive and a plug-in USB drive.
You may possibly have a drive letter conflict (i.e. when you plugged in your USB drive it 'hijacked' the drive letter and it now shows the properties of the plu-gin drive instead of the original one)
Two sources showing you how to resolve this are:
An illustrated guide to what you have to do (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499)
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297694)

Hello Sotiris
Apologies i didn't realise you had replied.I have managed to rename DVD Drive (K) to L and it now displays the correct icon.I hope as i only install programs from this drive changing the drive letter will not cause problems.
Thanks for the help.
cheers Andy:P
