Once again, FSX has confused me. I'm wondering whether it's worth upgrading. I'm not asking whether the program itself is worth upgrading, I'm wondering about my add-ons.
I'll just explain quickly my situation:
I decided that these are the upgrades that I would like to take with me if I am to switch:
Traffic 2005
Fscene Volume 1 - Europe & Africa
Flying Club
British Airports - Wales & West Midlands
767-300 ER
ATR 72-500
737 NG
737 - 800/900
The one's I can't upgrade are FScene, and British Airports
The ones that can upgrade free of charge are Traffic 2005, Flying Club and the ATR.
The rest I can upgrade if I pay.
The problem is, I'm not a bank and can't afford to spend an odd £80 on just upgrades. I could get myself a comp ugrade with that!
I don't think I'll be switching because I've got a lot of stuff running smoothly, and I don't want to bugger it all up and end up having to re-install everything again.
I was just wondering whether you guys would bother to make the switch. I know my comp is powerful enough to run these games if I got rid of FS9.
I'd also like to hear some of your guy's situations if you're having the same horrible questions as me;D

Matt,
Well unfortunately I have to say you are right. I made the conscious decision as soon as FSX was announced in January 2006 to stop buying addons for FS9 so as I did not end up in that trap. I did already have quite a few addons by that time and I still bought a couple more at the IFC after FSX was launched and we had all realised that it would not be an immediate smash..... I must admit, so far, my FSX addons purchases have been limited with only the LevelD 763ER update and the WILCO A320 purchase. I have not updated traffic yet as I do fly online where I can. I must admit, at the moment, I am probably doing only half of my flights on FSX and I still do half on FS9.... this will gradually change as I buy more addons.... A bit like these....

Hi Phil.
At present I´m running both (FS9 and FSX), too.
I´m doing all my "scheduled" flights on my FS9 wiht many good addons and all the tours on FSX to enjoy the nice VFR scenery.
I think, this will last until my favourite addons are released for FSX.
Then I´ll "try ooonly one of them to try all the improvements........" ;D
Do you know how this will end??? I think very expensive.....
No, just fun.
I really think I won´t completely switch to FSX until early 2008. Just as you said, the addons are quite expensive.
Kind regards
Manuel

Matt : I switched to fsX and don't look back; I'm having lots of problems, the major is that most add ons don't showq colors, including EHM planes; the panels are a mess, with addons; the ATR72 from Flight one that I bought and upgraded stops usually after 1 hour of flight with a warning of engines fire; Yes, i miss the old fs9, but in spite of everithing I enjoy seeing the lights on planes and the 3D panels of the original planes; some planes I brought from FS9 work and molstly I miss the C-130 Capsim; but I'll stick with fsX and rebuilt all the airports and planes i enjoy; Roger
