Check out, right landing gear collapse after touchdown due to not beeing completly extended and locked.

Scary moment for some poor pax!!!! I guess the pilot would have been pretty shook up... I can just imagine,he was probably just letting out a sigh of releif after the gear seemed to hold after touch down, thhn WOOOOOPS!!;)

ohyes, very scary indeed.. they had a little more thourogh talk about this at the news tonight, they said that all the passengers were in the brace position and it went relatively good with the cirumstances in mind :P but it must be quite scary going in for landning with the knowledge that the gear might not hold :| and not to know what happens! :| but it did go quite well so :)

Apparently there are some quite disturbing points about this crash....
1) Why was the RH engine not shutdown and the prop feathered?
2) Why did the pilot not land with bias to the left and keep the RH gear airbourne until the plane had slowed more?
These are questions being asked on PPrune by real pilots. The pilots were aware of possible problems with the RH gear but did not feather the prop, as a result the prop spinning at high speed, detached and penetrated the cabin, fortunately no one was hit by it. Also the plane should have been held on its left wheels far longer to prevent the type of slew that occurred. It is being said that the Danish military reported no visible problem with the wheel as it was inspected from a Helicopter and therefore the Pilots took this for granted that all was ok instead of believing their instruments! Of course, these questions are being raised on the "Rumor Network" so therefore we should wait for the crash report before we jump to conclusions.

and anotherone has done exact the same thing! but this time the pilot shut of the right engine, and landed on the left wheel as far as i'm concerned.. but how can this happen twice? and it's not an old aircraft is it?

I seen in the papers and the news the last few days that SAS was warned two years ago that something like could happen. And prior to the crash landing at Aalborg, they had a number of incidences. And I guess there's a reason why that type have been nicknamed "crash 8."
I guess the positive thing is, after the last crash land that SAS now has decided to ground the rest of the DASH 8 fleet until they have all been checked.
On a lighter note, let's hope it doesn't start to happen to our DASH 8. Because then there is really something wrong with that model :]

Well the Bomabrdier has recommended that Q400's with over 10,000 cycles are grounded for gear checks.... FLYBE here in the UK has grounded 6 of its Q400 fleet (according to Wikipedia they have 33 on their books at the moment with a further 27 on order) for checks which have already been completed and all planes will be back in service later today.

The civil avaiotion authorties in Denmark, Sweden and Norway has grounded all Dash8-Q400 from flight within these countries until the cause of the accidents is clearified, this include all aircraft both below and above 10.000cycles. On the homepage of the Norwegian Civil Avaition Authority it's states that aslo EASA consideres grounding all Dash8-Q400 aircraft. This will then affect all operators within the European Union.
Having a severe impact on flybe's operation in UK, LH regionals Augsburg Airways and several other operators having large number of these aircraft in their fleet.

I have just seen on the danish news that another SAS Dash 8-Q400, a few hours ago has made a emergency landing at Kastrup Airport (EKCH). Once again the landing gear broke just after landing. But this time it seem like the landing was more controlled and there was no fire and this time the prop stayed intact
