Title: Spanish names
Post by: EHM-1001 Robert on November 17, 2007, 10:16:01 pm
Hi mates,

I would like to ask some help from our Spanish members. In the office I need to write mails to Spanish colleagues, but it is a nightmare to recognize if it was a male or female name. In case of David, or Juan, it is easy, but for exmaple I still do not know about Marine or Alcira... I would not like to use a wrong calling at the beginning of the letter.

Is there a page where I can look up these Spanish names ?

Thank you in advance.

Rule of thumb, if it end in A theres like a 99% chance its a woman. I cant think of any guy names right now finishing in A other than Andrea, but thats italian.

** edit:
Just remembered, sometimes the name Maria is used for names, normally after a "Juan" or "Jose"... Jose Maria, Juan Maria...
