Guys (And girls if any there),
let's use this topic to post our photos!
Regards and good luck for the event!
-
Any size limitations?
1280x1024, and I can post a dozen in a minute...
-
I have "Imageshacked" all 17 pictures I took. Here's one preview of Christophe Moutot (EHM-1945) in the background, about to touch down at DAUT.
(http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8978/image16bb6.th.jpg) (http://img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image16bb6.jpg)
If it's OK with Bruno, I would like to post all pictures without resizing them, because clicking through the thumbnails gets boring after two pictures. But as that's a matter of available bandwidth (or not available), I leave it up to MT to decide on that.
-
Nice One Eric,
Thank you for sharing this pics !
Thank you again to all pilots who were waiting for my landing, having started one hour later than you guys.
See you next for the next leg
Cheers
Kristoff

Eric-Jan, on imageshack you can resize the image, when you are on the screen to choose the image to upload.
-
Mmmm... I have them on Imageshack in 1280x1024 already...
But I have some spare time tonight, so I'll get to work on it then. Largest pictures I see in other threads are 800x600 max.
I assume that's the limit, not only for the screenshots page, but also for forum posts?
You won't be able to see Christophe behid his cockpit window, though ;)
Sorry for all the text. Expect some pictures later this evening!
Ciao,
Eric-Jan

Ok mate,
I also have 8 images to post. Will post them tonight.

Finally some pictures from my side, instead of all words:
First of all: the route for the entire event:
(made it as one big route DAOO-FACT with nearby navaids instead of airports as waypoints)
Pushback at DAOO, Bruno taking off in the background. Clock re-set to 07:45 for daylight ;)
(FSX+PMDG+REX at their finest ;))
lined up and rdy for dep rwy25

SID 52 (which nobody else used...) takes you back over DAOO

Climbing out over the clouds, one last look at the Mediteranian
(http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4147/image4do1.jpg)
established and maintaining FL190
(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2981/image5ry7.jpg)
Those are the last veggies, next the desert
(http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/5065/image6nr9.jpg)
One more, just because I love the paint
(http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4589/image9ed7.jpg)
If you cannot read it from the picture:
Top to bottom
EHM-1945 Christophe Moutot (just out of DAOO)
EHM-2387 (yours truely)
EHM-2168 José Vaz (Trying to beat Bruno to it)
EHM-0948 (Bruno taking the shortest route: DCT)
EHM-0301 (? I cannot identify this one...)
When I arived at DAUT, Bruno and José were parked at the apron already...
... They suggested we would wait a bit for Christophe, 'cause he was getting near already
(http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/675/image15yl2.jpg)
Christophe about to touch down behind me
(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6895/image16lf7.jpg)
Translation: "EHM948> *click* photo taken". You can say that again, Bruno, Haha, me too!
After some pleasant conversation about beer and temperatures, it was time for good-byes.
One last look out the cockpit window; "EHM1945> See you, and thank you. Have a nice night all"
I hope you enjoyed the show, and this leg of the event. Can't wait for leg 2.
Happy landings!

For those who want a higher resolution (and have an IVAO account):

I placed the pictures in original size in a thread on IVAO forum.

And that's all! Will post more photos for the second leg tomorrow!

Great shots, Bruno!
And nice to see myself in two of them :>
-
I started a picture diary at
http://forum.ivao.aero/index.php/topic,97693.0.html
with my leg 2 to start with.
-
Hi Eric,
I just checked it and it looks fine! I think you can reduce the image size a bit, you can use imageshack for that.
Regards and keep posting here too!
-
Hi all, the same storie goes here, but with somewhat reduced size pictures:
Climbing out of DAUT on a hazy afternoon
(http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/2898/image1gt3.jpg)
Some nice clouds around
(http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9582/image2nf6.jpg)
climbing out through the lower cloud layer
(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/4365/image3md3.jpg)
The last of the clouds...
After this initial climb, it became more or less cloudless for the remainder of the journey
Overflying DAUA...
to turn slightly left along J63 all the way to DATM
(http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/9920/image6hx8.jpg)
From there on a 1 1/2 hr long straight to DATM. Not much more to do than look out the window at that big sandbox.
The most dynamic thing in this picture: the fuel gauge on the left. See it moving towards zero? *Yawn*
(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8728/image8xz4.jpg)
Descending through FL100 for alt5000
(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7485/image9np1.jpg)
Finally: DATM in sight!
Right hdg260 for a teardrop turn and visual approach rwy08
(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/9371/image11mr9.jpg)
Not a perfect path, but good enough to get me on the ground in a controlled manner ;)
Must say that a visual approach in a desert is much more tricky than in a more contrast rich environment. Difficult to estimate your height. This time at least I had my shadowas a reference.
After a smooth touchdown, runway vacated.
Notice the tower? It's a trailer with a tower room sitting on top!
I have to admit that after leg 1, this leg was a bit of an uneventful journey. Flying all alone, even without anybody on unicom, through the desert with a view that remains prety much the same all the way. Well, leg 3 will take us to Gao, Mali, which is next to a river (the river Niger), so I expect to see some green around there.
I plan to fly leg 3 on Tuesday January 13th, at around 19:00(Z). Pictures will follow soon after that.
Please feel free to add your own event pictures if you have any!
C.U. after leg 3!

Hi ,
Leg02 - DAUT - DATM
Foggy weather
(http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/Filipe974/EHM_CN/CN_Leg02_03.jpg)
At DATM near the caravan that with traffic it is a control tower, no traffic it is a bar....
Trevor having dinner in the cockpit(bought it in the caravan).

Leg03 DATM, Algeria GAGO, Mali
Leaving DATM
(http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/Filipe974/EHM_CN/CN_Leg03_01.jpg)
Sand, sand and more sand
(http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/Filipe974/EHM_CN/CN_Leg03_02.jpg)
Final approach at GAGO

Cheers

Nice, Louis! And thanks for sharing them.
For me, leg 03/15 from DATM (Bordj Mokhtar, Algeria) to GOGA (Gao, Mali) started a little later than I had planned; 19:45(Z) instead of 19:00(Z) because of RL priorities.
Climbing out of DATM for int MOKAT.
Just as I was airborne (about 10 sec after this pic) Trevor came on line at DATM, and said hello. Nice!
Three more EHM guys (the light blue dots) joined Trevor even before I reached MOKAT
(http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/5194/image2he3.jpg)
Along the way, some other IVAO traffic in opposite direction
(http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/350/image5ary1.jpg)
(OSE101 DIAP-LIRF on UG859)
TCAS says there is another one up there, but I don't have a visual
(http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9323/image10hi9.jpg)
(KLM590 DGAA-EHAM on UG859)
While we're looking up; nice vail of clouds
(http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1343/image12xc7.jpg)
A close-up, because I always got to gaze at this paintwork a bit during cruise. Focus is this time on the exhaust streaks. Evan Kirou, you're my hero :D
(http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7675/image8lf1.jpg)
Ah, now there's the river Niger already!
That means time to start descend, and prep the approach! I choose the VOR rwy07 aproach
(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/2310/image9acf3.jpg)
"Officer, I swear I didn't touch that beer yet!" (Things are getting a bit out of focus here...)
"I just knew I shouldn't have eaten those mushrooms :~p"
Lucky for me, they left the runway where it is suposed to be. Nice black PAPI
(http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/9426/image16xs7.jpg)
I'll just go park on one of those green blobs on the left, I guess...
My fellow EHMmers are approaching GAGO too, but I simply don't see anything outside. And my cockpit won't even allow for an instrument landing...
So I'll just call it a day, and hope my GFX problem solves itself overnight.
Will have a look at it tomorrow.
By the way: despite the GFX "challenge", I managed a 0-penalty PP flight today! It's my second one in 15 flights... Only 6427 penalty points to be removed for a flat 0... Woahhh, just as I checked if I remembered that number correctly from my PIREP, I see that EHM has introduced a new rating system, and I am at 485 points = 3rd place overall. I made it to the front page all of a sudden. Curious about the new calculation; I see only positive numbers.
Well, that's it for today. Lucky for me I have until next Tuesday (max.) to fly leg 04/15 GAGO - DNSO (Sokoto, Nigeria). I hope I have that GFX thing solved well before that.
C.U. then and there. Happy landings, and wait for the three greens!
-
My GFX problem seems to be a killer. Literally.
I can now only fly for about 10 minutes, the my PC freezes. I cannot even CTRL-ALT-DEL my way out of it. I have to do a hard reset (power button > 5 sec) to get a restart. But then I can work normally, only FSX kills my PC after 10 mins. each time. Tried it 4 times yesterday evening, all with the same result.
So tonight I'll go try de-install some stuff I recently installed for FSX, and maybe even REX (... :( ) and see what happens then.
So probably I won't be flying leg 04/15 next Friday. I hope to be able to do so before next Tuesday...
Keep you posted!
Eric-Jan

After yet another FSX crash (not an airplane crash) I made a second attempt at FEFF - FZIA. This time, I had the honour of flying with Louis.
Louis was flying under UN flag:
