Title: Heathrow - Cardiff - Dublin [220kb]
Post by: EHM-1464 Andrew on August 03, 2004, 04:33:58 pm
Today's been my day off work, and so I'm trying to get in a good few hours. Ive just become STC on this flight so soon I can start flying longer routes..

The flight started in the early morning (1pm, its early for me) and luckily I had missed the early morning rush hour at Heathrow...

These EHM long haul aircraft must have just come in on the overnight flights from New York (as well as their highly paid pilots).

This is the bad thing about Heathrow, always waiting.. I was behind the BA A320 for 20 minuets before being cleared for takeoff..

Turning back round after departure and heading for the CPT VOR..

Final approach into Cardiff.. If anyone knows of a good turboprop panel that would be great, the Learjet one isnt very well suited..

Seconds before touchdown.. A Cessna 172 behind me was forced to go around..

Leaving Cardiff and Wales towards the Irish Sea!.. I got my altitude quickly as there is alot of military activity near Cardiff..

The rest of the flight was pretty uneventful except the NAV Hold button wouldnt work..

While I was waiting for takeoff at Heathrow a 757 (i forget the airline) was ordered to make a very late go around, pulled up very sharply, almost vertical, stalled and crashed on top of the aircraft on the runway.. No fire or explosions, or even debris surprisingly so I can only assume no-one was injured!.. :s

Well im going to head back to Heathrow so I can take my new Class 3 aircraft for a spin, havent decided on it yet, but I think I'll go for the ATR 72..

Nice to hear about your flight....I'm guessing the controller was on his tea-break when calling the late go-around.

Has anyone ever sat in the middle of the runway to see how many aircraft have to go-around....i suppose the holding pattern would be pretty  tight.

I have lol :] It was cause i accidentally shut off my engines upon touch down and was trying to get it on for taixing :P lots of planes were going round in circles, i'd imagine their pilots were furious ;D :]

Greart shots Andy! Superb flight and supeerb pictures. I like the lookout the Dornier-328 very much, coz it looks like a body-builder with its broad shoulders ;D
