I'm sure some of you will remember that just before the change of forum software I mentioned that we want to go over to using just the permanent pilot ID as forum login name, rather than the current (for most of you) "EHM-XXXX Firstname", and also start using the same password on the forum as on the main website.
I'm going to be adding myself at the top of the list to be early changed over to this new "Just Pilot ID" user name, but if I can have a few more volunteers (dozen at most) to also be renamed so that your accounts can become guinea pigs for the development work I want to get started on the main website, that would be most helpful to me. If you wish to be added to the volunteers list below, leave your name in the thread and I'll add the first 11 ;D
Volunteers
EHM-0654 Murray
EHM-2438 Phil
EHM-2387 Eric-Jan
EHM-1829 Trevor
EHM-2029 Sotiris
EHM-2097 Andrei

Same here....

I did not post right away because I expected the list to reach 12 people within minutes ;D
I see now there is still room there, so I want my shorter name too.

OK, thanks to all five of you, we're half way. I'll leave the thread open regardless, but I'll be dealing with us six over the weekend so that I'm able to make a start on the hard work next week. Expect an email once I change us all over. :)

I forgot to change our usernames over the weekend, but strangely found how to do it within the forum software ;D It even sends out a new password to you all.
Best of luck with the new usernames and passwords.

All seems to be working just fine for me. ;D

Yep,
I'm in too!
Eric-Jan.
Oh, ehhh... 2387 :)

Working for me too, with just one remark: I had to change password because my old one is considered not safe enough by the forum software. I could use it but I cannot set it as a new password.
Not necessarily a bad thing, but good to know about...

Funnily enough Andrei, I got the same thing :P
I'm going to have a first look at the forum authentication API this weekend (if I can) and if at all possible, I'll be forcing the forum to reuse my old (insecure) password. I'll let you all know if it allows me to make such a change.

No problems as yet, so far so good :)

Just a quick note for those of you not part of the MT. My plan is to test-drive the single sign-on on a bit of the site that you non-MT folks don't know about - it's a much used part of the site for the MT though.
While making it understand an auth pass-through from the forum will be nice for us in the MT, my actual thinking here is that said bit of the site uses it's own authentication mechanisms any way (a separate bit of the database, it's own username/password handling code) and I can play with it without overly hurting anything that would affect everyone. So, don't expect things to change very much for a wee while yet...
