Title: WorldFlight 2011

For those who don't know, several groups of Flightsimmers from around the world join together each year to fly a special event in aid of various charities - the Event is called WorldFlight and consists of 45 flights during the course of a week flying 24/7 bar a 45 minute crew change between legs. Each of the official teams uses a full size home built cockpit with two man crews, real weather, ATC provided by VATSIM and adherence to real world airline procedures.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because the Event begins tomorrow night at 2200Z (GMT) and I'm one of the 7 man UK WorldFlight team  ;D

So, on the one hand, I won't be active here at EHM in the coming week! On the other hand, I'd invite any of you that are interested to join us as we fly round the world or just watch our progress on the various flight trackers that are available on our sites. And if any of you wish to support any of the charities we are raising funds for, that would be a huge bonus ;) The UK WorldFlight team is collecting for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (http://www.wnaa.co.uk) - an emergency medical helicopter service funded entirely by donations.

You can find out more details of the team I'm on HERE (http://www.747simulator.co.uk) (click on WorldFlight on the menu bar for a drop down list of options, including a JustGiving page where you can sponsor me if you wish to, plus the FLIGHT TRACKER (http://www.747simulator.co.uk/page108.html) page) and the WorldFlight Group website with route downloads etc for those who would like to join in is HERE (http://www.worldflightgroup.com/).

Thanks very much  :)

Amazing Dom, what a wonderful experience for you!

Did you get practice time in the 747 sim? or have you been running through PMDG's Queen like mad?

Both  ;D

We've had training sessions in the sim for the last six weeks going through everything from basic taxiing to NP approaches, VATSIM and fuel/flight planning. It's been a lot of work, made me realise how much I didn't know about the 747-400! Then I've been practising what we've learned at home on the PMDG version. As my wife Becky says, it's pretty much taken over life in the last two months  :D

It should be an absolutely fantastic experience, just as long as I remember all my flows ;)

Safe flights, even safer landings, Dominic!

I'll be home from Saturday, if alll goes to plan. So I'll pick you and your team up on the tracker then!

Good luck, and lots of sponsor money for the cause! :)
