This summer we have acquired six Twin Otter floatplanes to extend our range throughout Canada, the US and Alaska. These planes open up so many new destinations to us - you just don't need a runway any more ;D

Our WILD Division base at Castlegar now has its own water runway in the river alongside the land airport - the necessary files are installed at the same time as you install the freeware Twin Otter floatplane or you can download the zip file below if you use the payware Aerosoft version. Then look for CYC1 - "Castlegar River" in your FS9/FSX airport selection window and away you go!

You can fly from Castlegar to 80% of our existing WILD destinations which have a river or lake near the land runway and Flight Logger will register the flight as completed - as long as the stretch of water you land in is within about 10nm of the land runway. This overcomes the unfortunate limitation Microsoft built into MSFS when they only included water runways in the USA! This applies to our first two destinations on the new floatplane route - Green Lake, Canada (CBG2) which is just north of a large lake and Leo Creek, Canada (CAH5) which has a river right alongside the airport.
Alaska of course, as part of the USA, has water runways in abundance ;) So when you reach Hyder (4Z7), Snettisham (7AK2 - which has a gravel strip and a water runway) and Skagway (7K2) the airport codes refer to the water aerodrome.

There is more information to help you get the most our of our new planes in the fully updated WILD Bush Pilot's Manual (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/~downloads/WILDManual.pdf). So download a floatplane, get into the air and explore further than ever before ;)
