To celebrate the introduction of floatplanes to our WILD Division we are going to run a screenshot competition this month with the theme of "Water".
I invite all pilots to create a screenshot and submit it to the Gallery / 'Screenshot competitions' album HERE (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/forum/index.php?action=media;sa=album;in=1) - the only rules are that it must feature a EuroHarmony VA aircraft somewhere in the picture and that there must be some water in the picture ;D
Other than that, you may do anything you like - you can have a straight screenshot or you can edit it artistically, you can add text and effects, you can make it as a postcard or film poster... anything you like really, show us how creative you can be ;)
So you may choose to create a WILD floatplane pic in the stunning scenery of Alaska, you might want to take an advertising style image of your EuroCargo plane arriving over the River Thames on one of the 2012 Olympics Missions, you might choose to focus on the 007 Event leg into Udaipur or a wet landing in Singapore in a 737-800 - the choice, as ever, is entirely yours!
Please submit your entries by Sunday 22nd July and we will then have a vote over the following week for the favourite one which will be featured for the following month on the front page of the EHM website in the screenshot & video box which Alexander has kindly upgraded today.
So get snapping your screenshots and your picture could be the one that everyone sees when they visit the site...

Hi Dominic,
Today uploaded some screenshots for the competition. Because of duplicate files I wanted to edit and remove some files, but didn't manage. Can you please explain how I can modify galaryfiles?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Click on the name of the picture you want to look at/edit/delete in the album and when it opens up you should have a row of icons below the picture including delete ;)
-
Thanks Dominic, but maybe I must be blind, because I cann't find the icons you mentioned!
Maybe the screencapture below explains why!

Hi Peter,
I've just 'approved' one of your pictures so it may be that you don't get the icons, which should appear alongside Report / Download / Unapprove at the bottom, until that is done. Please check again and let me know otherwise Alexander might have an answer ;)
-
Hi Dominic,
Thanks for your response, but it's still just three icons I find at the bottom: report, download and unapprove!
???

Sorry then Peter, I'm not sure whether those extra icons are only for admins - not sure why deleting your own pics would be restricted though ???
Any thoughts Alexander ?
(If we can't find a solution you can always let me know which files you want deleted and I can do it for you Peter ;) )
-
Hi Dominic,
I've waited some days, hoping Alexander came up with a solution. If it's not too much trouble, perhaps you will be so kind to delete the duplicate screenshots in the competition album?
Thanks
Peter
-
No problem Peter, all done ;)
-
Thanks again!

Looked like a permissions issue, see if you can now see the edit buttons Peter.

I've got six icons now... that should do the trick!
Thanks very much!

Reminder to all pilots - please submit any entries for the competition by this Sunday (22nd) and we will then move to the voting round ;)
Thanks to those pilots who have already entered their pictures :)
-
Ok - the submissions are all in so now it's time to vote ;)
Please can everyone have a look at all the entries in the Gallery / Screenshot competition album and choose your favourite one. There are only a few rules:-
- each EHM pilot gets one vote
- a pilot cannot vote for their own screenshot
- you must vote for eligible entries only ie the picture includes an EHM aircraft AND some water
Just click on your favourite picture's title and in the box of information below it you will see a box marked 'BBC embed code' eg "smg id=987". Please update this thread with a post indicating the NUMBER from that box, in this case 987.
I will tally up all the votes cast by the closing date of 31st July and announce the winner or winners soon afterwards.
Good luck everyone :)

Difficult to make a decision, very good pictures... finally for me is Just Ocean [967]
Good one Dirk ;)
-
My vote goes to number 961 which is a great entry from new pilot Txer - well done :)
-
My vote for Dirk's 'Sunset over Asia" number 963
-
There are a number of really nice shots in there (and quite a few that apparently didn't read the guidance ;D). Really hard to choose one favourite...
Will need to spend a bit more time looking at my shortlisted three I think.
You guys didn't make this easy... but my vote goes for 962
(Txer, I so very nearly voted for your submission 961. If you'd made the DC-3 bigger in the shot, I'd so have voted for the old girl... She's my favourite prop in the fleet. Keep up the good work.)

Peter's 976
I initially thought that I would have liked a close shot of the aircraft, but in a way being pulled back like that gives the feeling of an empty sky with the danger of the open sea.
Looks like a quiet, lonely flight against some really nice looking land and ocean textures as the waves beat away at those beaches.

Only a couple of days left now to get your votes in for the competition... ;)
-
Last day for voting - anyone who hasn't cast a vote yet, please check out the Competition album in the Gallery and let us know which picture you like best ;)
-
Being on holiday in T-Mobile Blackspot, I only saw this post today...
But I wanted to cast my vote anyway so now I'm having lunch at McDonalds (free WiFi) :D
My vote goes to the beatiful sunset of Dirk, # 963 as I am a sucker for sunsets.
Lots of beautiful pictures, though. IT was a tough decision!
-
My thanks to everyone who entered the competition and those who voted :)
The results are:-
1st place and the Cobalt Screenshot Award goes to EHM-2581 Dirk for Sunset over Asia
There was a tie for second/third place so the Silver Award goes jointly to:-
EHM-2773 Txer for Sunnrise in Andalucia
AND to EHM-2758 Peter for his shot of the Beechcraft 1900D
Congratulations to each of you and your winning entries will appear on the front page image feed shortly for all visitors to our site to enjoy ;)

Gentlemen and Fellow Pilots,
What can one say? First try at Screenshots and attaining Cobalt Award! Never, never ever, in my wildest dreams did I expect to win (although one secretly hopes) and - yes it must have been a tough decision looking at the other entries. Thank heaven for the sunset. To all of you who did the voting a sincere thank you!.
To the other winners - well done and keep on. Your's were all worthy submissions.
Sky high Greetings,
Dirk Uys

Hello Murray,
Just read through all the comments again and I am a guilty party in regards lack of water. The shots of Final to Athens and putting wheels to tarmac at Athens were just such emotional moments on completion of the Double World Tour that all caution was thrown overboard and I had to submit them - if for no other reason than for all the other pilots who were still on the way in to serve as inspiration. It was a truly great moment and all those that have completed/will complete will surely agree.
By the way - congrats to whom ever worked out the DWTour. Very well done and even if it was a loooong tour there were few boring moments.

All credit goes to Andrei who came up with the idea and designed the whole route plus accompanying documentation ;)

Welcome back Txer, I hope you had a good holiday?
