Title: Is BB Code off for a reason?
Post by: EHM-0654 Murray on October 28, 2004, 11:09:53 pm
I've noticed that BB Code and [img] code appears to be always off for me.

Is this a setting I have any control over (I'd like to see my and others simdata blocks...)?

Smilies are Off
BB Code is Off
[img] Code is Off

It claims that everything is off but everything seems to be on.....:%

Dynamic pic link isn't it? Quite a number of forum software has recently been modified to disallow such pictures links to display cause they could be used to execute code on the computer of the viewer, and hence creating a security loophole. My United Devices stats image was also a dynamic image link and it could not be displayed, so i changed it to the banner in my sig now! ;) i believe that this is the case for this forum too

img and bb code is ON for all forums.

However to display a picture, it has to end in jpg... so status.jpg will display a picture but status.php?id=163662 won't... yep, it's about security.

The only way i know to get around this is to generate the picture on the server side then having the user link the image to his/her sig......which we obviously cannot do

Reviving an old topic... better than making a new one.

Does anyone know how to put the Simdata picture onto your signature, the thing that says "I am Flying/Controling...", I tried to put it in but did not allow me probably because of reasons stated above, however I have seen it on someone's signature in this forum... just dont remember who's...

Thanks'

Alex;)

The sig you saw was probably put in before the new rules came into force and since it was not edited since then, that particular sig still works
