Title: Big bird goes East
Post by: EHM-0361 Karsten on November 14, 2004, 12:06:17 pm
Date: 13. Nov. 2004
Place: Arlanda airport / Stockholm, Sweden
Time: 14:48 local time / 13:48 UTC.

The 747 start to taxi away from the gate. In a little over 10 hours this aircraft will have made EHM history, as being the first EHM 747 to land in Tokyo.
Here is a few shots.

Take off from Arlanda

Some hours later, we have morning in Chinese airspace.

Japan ahead. b.t.w love the fact that you at 33000 ft still can see the waves on the water

And then here we are Parked at the gate next to a JAL bird in Tokyo, with another JAL aircraft on the taxiway in the far background. There are no pictures of the landing because the captain forgot to put the videorecorder on, and he was a little bit busy landing because he was on a visual app.

Here is an overview of Tokyo Intl. Guess I don't have to say I'm the red X.

Lastly I would like to thank my crew and the 410 passengers that had bought tickets for this flight.

More or less everything to do with water, clouds, season and other weather textures has been altered. I think the water is a file called PWover16.zip by Peter Wilding. I have tried looking for it at Avsim, but they don't have it. I know it can be download from flightsim.com. But I know that unless you are a paying member it might take you a long time to get it, b.t.w it a 7.2 mb zip file. But you can try seaching for it at other of the free sites.

Looking at the plane in screenshots, i finally realise how beautiful those new engines are :] Great pics! only thing is that the clouds look like cotton fluffs hanging in the air.....do they really look like that in real life? i can't remember since it's been so long since i last flew :P And nice aerobridges! :)

I think there is still on going work to develop more real life clouds.
b.t.w Zhen Yi sorry but I didn't meet any a/c from Singapore airlines, If had I would have made a special shot just for you.

Very nice pics Karsten! Good job.

FSPLANET is not a problem when you have FlashGet, or any other download manager. When FSPLANET reaches to a point, that it forwards you to that scrap italian mirror server, just drop the link over FlashGet and it will do the job for you ;)

Excelent flight  Karsten!

Just wonder one thing, you made a visual approach, but the visibility is not so good, was it ? And why visual ? Isnt there some navigational markers nearby ?

The Landing was done via ILS right ? :)

See ya,
BF

I use the inbuild ATC that vectored me you my landing. For some reason there wasn't any ILS on the active runway, so I made the land by hand, and that's not an easy thing to do what that aircraft. I have never flown an aircraft was so heavy and hard to turn. I'm really happy that there wasn't any strong crosswind because that would have made it even worse
