Title: A 380
Post by: EHM-1507 Manuel on January 14, 2005, 09:31:49 pm
Hi folks!

Yesterday I found the first pics of the new A 380 in the internet.

Here at the pushback from the hangar in Toulouse:

http://img130.exs.cx/img130/2070/a380013kb.jpg

And two in front of the hangar with demounted engines:

looking really impressive, especially the first one.

Should begin tests soon, and begin operational airline flight in 2008.
For modelling, have some cross section blueprints of it, so message me if you are interrested.

Anyone know about Boeing's new a/c? I havent heard much about it in a while, maybe they canceled the project... I think it was the 7E7.

THe 7E7 is still going strong, but I dont think its anyway near compleation so it will not be in the press.

Pedrosa, nice photo out there...

Definately it is a big airplane. Let's see if it turns correctly to approach Madeira or Kai Tak ;D .

The engines are very very big too .... my god, it surely will make sound noise when taking off ;)

I am sure the RR Trent-900 engines will be as silent as economical. I have heard somewhere that flying on the A380 is much more economic than driving as many diesel cars as passengers on board. It uses much less fuel on the same distance and divided by same number of passengers as an economic diesel car.

Good job Airbus! Wish my company worked for them :'(

Oh...and I also red that Airbus will release the A350-800 which is a further interior design of A330-300 (same in EHM fleet) as a competitor for Boeing 7E7. What I do not understand is why they do not build a new plane from those many elements they have...coz they have so much like in a LEGO toy. And why they start the new plane from the 800 variant? ;D

I hope when its in servise it comes to Manchester. But I think it will cos theres lots of cool a/c that go there. But then I noramly see a/c come from the west and south-west.

Will it be able to land at Manchester? Looks like it would need the M1 to be able to stop ;):):%

Anyway, it has been designed to serve only major airports, so in the UK, probably only Heathrow will take it....life is harsh isnt it :'(

I think it will be at a minimal amount of airports because runways need to be improved for it to opperate
Title: A 380
Post by: EHM-1507 Manuel on January 19, 2005, 07:11:43 pm
Jes, I agree, there would be just one or two airports in each european country which can be operated with A380.
And until it would be established in amounts close to the 747 it would last some time, too, so that it would be very hard for one to take some good photos of that fat duck for a long time
Title: A 380
Post by: EHM-1358 Tim on January 19, 2005, 08:37:50 pm
Well I dont think it needs that shorter runway. Because I landed at Kai Tak in a 747 and stopped in about 1/6 of te runway.

Post by: EHM-1524 Alex on January 19, 2005, 08:50:04 pm
at first a while back i thought it would definitly win the skies the a380 but now i am not so certain i believe that all this fantasy of spacious bars etc is rubbish airlines want money so it will be a 900 seat all economy layout also i believe its usefullness only lies in long trips between major airports. Most airports wont provide for it. In conclusion i think we will  be seeing newer versions of the 747 for many years to come :) yay GO BOEING
Title: A 380
Post by: EHM-1507 Manuel on January 20, 2005, 05:14:27 pm
Newer Versions of the 747 defiinately are planned.
I read something about a stretched version, on what Boeing wants to test first building - sections for 7E7.

You´re right, the luxury - versions with bars and sofas and so on would be really rare in the skies.

But versions with less first - class, some business - class and many economy - class seats will compete with 747 in the future.

Post by: EHM-0744 Alex on January 20, 2005, 08:00:16 pm
Yep, yesterday saw in the newspapers some digital photos of the supposed interior first class design and thought that it was all rubbish, I mean, the bar and all that... Never happens, when the 747 first came out there were photos of grand pianos and people playing them along with a bar and a cocktail service:s haven't seen that anymore, but then thats maybe just me. :] Alex, you are 100% correct in my opinion, companies will go for the most economical designs they can figure out, and maybe some luxuries will be included for the first years but that is sure to dimish.

This is not to say that on EHM 747's there is no grand piano along with in-flight live entertainment. ;D;D;D

It´s true,  that it´s just an illusion that there would fly first class hotels through the sky, but in this times, you need somethig to get the people wondering about. If Airbus just announced "We´ve developed the biggest and most economical aircraft ever" no one would have had taken care about.

But if anyone is talking about the aircraft, and every newspaper and tv - news is full of it, it is an inducement for airlines to buy it and to provide passengers with that plane (not with that interiour, most passengers can´t afford).

In my oppinion, all that pics of the super-luxuy-bird were just an advertising strategy of Aribus.

Well I can see why it sold, Emirates were convinced by it and i'm sure there are many people willing to fly that way, plus, I'm sure that most of the planes seating configuration will be economy class anyway.

Personaly i love the fact of the A380

Does anyone know of an A380F coming out?

is it just me or does that aircraft not have any nose wheels?

..on the subject of luxury, i think there will be very very few luxury models, and like what was said before, the 900-seater versions (does it really seat 900!?) will be the most popular options, with so many low cost carriers and the current low fares craze i think people will look for the cheaper tickets..

also, there have been luxury liners before but they have never been popular!.. i dont think any trip on a jet aircraft is long enough to need that kind of entertainment.. just give me my own lcd screen, nose camera and the cockpit radio on my headphones and ill be happy for 14 hours!! (thank you united airways!)

The size of the A380 is obviously incredible. How will it compare against the largest at the moment, the AN225. i know ones cargo and the other is for both but can they be compared each other. I saw a picture on a.net a few days of ago of a Polet Cargo An124 carrying the new A380 engines and the engine size is massive compared to the Antonov but what about length and weight.

Another player on the playground for the cup of largest bird.

It is the Boeing 797 concept plane! Now available for FS2004.

It have a 2-4-4-2 seat config on the first floor (3-4-3 for B7474 !!!) and a sleeping/resting cabin on the upper floor, that is why there are not windows there, like the Airbus-380 have. The nose gear is a double-double config, which means 4 wheels total. It is really, really big!  ;)

I have found out that the take off distance for all series A380 have 10600 ft. as the takeoff roll. (but I don't know if it's right). How does this compare to the 747-400?
Title: A 380
Post by: EHM-1507 Manuel on April 20, 2005, 08:04:51 pm
The 747 - 400 would need about 10800 to 10900 ft to get off

I can´t wait to see the A 380 on air..............

Great test flight wasn't it?

Go here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4488361.stm) and click on watch the flight for the BBC news article.

Perhaps we should add an 8th A380 exclusive class which requires 200 or 250 hours specifically for the super jumbo (assuming that EHM buy one)?! (That's only semi-serious, but maybe it's an idea. Opinions and comments please)
