just out of interest..
im stuck between installing fs2004 (which runs slower but has better atc (which isnt that important as i would use IVAO most of the time)
and re-installing fs2002 (which runs quicker and i can install loads of extras without it slowing down too much)
cant really decide.. does anyone here still use fs2002? or fs2000 for that matter?.. or 98!!! all of which ive got.. 98 runs so fast its unbeleivable (60fps)
and does ivap work with fs2002?

Hi Andrew!
I was in the same dilemma i nthe winter holiday, then decided...and switched from FS2002 to 2004. I see now, I need some more memory, and cannot expect as much frame rates. Although I like the fact that it loads faster :) Now I am struggling with installing those many add-on things to the new version, and having many problems, but I keep on trying.
I liked 2002 very much, but it is now 4 years old, and have some bugs that always annoyed me, and I cannot see those in 2004. So afterall, I think I was not disappointed.
And of course, IVAp works well with 2002, you only need more clicks to connect to the network.

think im going to go for 2002 but with fsnav and a load of project ai airlines / ivap (for busy times)..
does ivap work directly in 2002 or do you need somthing else like sqwarkbox did with sbhost.. i know it works in 2004..
also, can you still use text with ivap, instead of microphone.. i have a very tempermental mic
another thing.. does anyone else get confused with the new gps.. i just cant seem to get the hang of it!! would have much rather had a simpler gps but some extra plane functions!

hallo Andrew
I am still using FS 2002 because it runs perfectly on my present computer.
with the framerates on 30 it also runs my addons without hitches.
But i do have problems in getting the on-line programs and files to work.
I find verytime a foult message that there are two FSUIPC files loaded,
and then FS refuses to run.
Have not found the solution for that.

Well, as I know Ivap must work alone in FS2002 too. The only difference is that you have to build up a multiplayer session manually, which is automatical in FS2004.
I advise you to not use SquawkBox for IVAO, use Ivap instead. And yes, you can type messages there too, although spoken text is better. And not to mention TeamSpeak is much better than Roger Wilco. I used TeamSpeak for war game multiplayer sessions and it was incredible fine. I guess it is the same for FS. ;)

I do, but I think I'll switch to FS2004 in a few days, when the new computer arrives.
Ciao ciao!
