The Story of my 100th hour (05 May 2005 EHM-6312 Arlanda to Esenboğa)

Hi there. I was on a holiday (maybe it is not right to call this holiday because I was working there in order to help my parents with thier shop.) and I wasn’t able to fly any flights during this period…

When I return back to home two days ago I tried to fly with my Boeing 767-300ER but when I was taxiing to runway I realised that my plane wasn’t able to do the right turns because of my joystick. Off course the flight cancelled. (In fact I first tought that problem occurs because of the flight dynamics of the B767 but I realised all of my planes don’t turn to the right.)

After facing with the problem with my joystick I understood that I have to buy a new one as soon as possible. Yesterday I walked to bank and had my cash in a few minutes to have a new joystick. After visiting several places and computer shops, I found what I was looking for: SAITEK X45!!! I bought this unbelievable joystick&trust controller and trim controller, I decided to fly a Class 6 flight to celebrate this event. I last landed at Stockholm (ESSA) because I last flown the last leg of The Capitals Tours which was from Oslo to Stockholm. The reason to choose Stockholm as a departure airport is that I am trying to be more realistic. So I choosen the flight EHM-6312 from the offline timetable.

The flight, EHM-6312, is from Stockholm (ESSA) to Ankara (LTAC). Ankara is the capital city of Turkiye. Departure time  was 05:15. When we arrived to the ariport with the crew, almost everyone in Sweden was sleeping. Our clocks were showing 03:30 while we were heading to our big office in Arlanda Airport. Our beautiful Tupolev was in the general aviation parking area and was waiting for the bording time. Tupolev is under control of EHM Business but that night we had to make this flight with this 40 pax beauty because of the engine ptoblem with B738. We were lucky because there were enough seats for our reserved passengers.

After we had our brifing about the flight we asked to go to our plane and called the ground handling. When we aboard, time was 04:15 and we had 15 inutes to boarding. Everything checked and boarding started at 04:30 with no problem.

Time was 04:50 when boarding ended. Even there were some problems at the customs , that was a quick boarding because we had fewer passengers that day than the average. Everything was ready to departure. When we requested push-back, time was 04:58 and we were at the holding point at runway 1 at 05:13. We requested take off clearence and took off from beautiful Arlanda Airport. I have to say that everyone that night was so kind to us like everytime I come to Stockholm except some extraordinary things which is not important to mention here and every pilot faces with almost in every airport.

Take off was so good. Tupolev was flying like a bird, so easily. Our ATC was talking  a bit sleepy that night but he was very good. He enrouted us, even we had our STAR and SID charts with us, he done everything for us. He enrouted us and said “Harmony six three one two, resume your own navigation.”  Thanks, sir!

This was a long flight and both me and my co-pilot was experienced enough to fullfil this flight’s needs and passengers wants. We flown our plane at .85 Mach to make our passengers be at the ground at Esenboğa Airport abou 08:30. We were knowing that there must be  mother who missed her child, a young man who missed his girl-friend,  a girl who missed her father, a little child who missed his playground. And we wanted to don’t make them wait. When we were at cruise speed there were nothing left to do with the speed because we were almost flying at the top speed.

We passed Lithuania and Lativa then Belarus and Ukraine. When we were at the Black Sea wich is between Ukarine, Turkiye, Bulgaria, and Romania we welcomed by Ankara Center and headed to Sinop (Turkiye) when time was 08:17. There were aproximately 20 minutes to land and ATC requested us to decrease our flight level from 31000 feet to 25000 feet.

We assigned to make an ILS Approach to Esenboğa and let the ATC be our GPS. He decreased our altitude and assigned new headings while we approach to Esenboğa Airport. After we applied all things he said to us, we finally saw the runway 3R in front of us about 10 miles distance. We saw the airplane at the runway which was a Cessna and landed ahead about a mintue. At he same time ATC requested us to contact with Esenboğa Tower and we tuned Esenboğa Tower.

EHM6312: Esenboğa Tower EuroHarmony six three one two, 5 miles north from Esenboğa,ILS Landing, 03R Approach
Esenboğa Twr: EuroHarmony six three one two, make straight in runway 03R
Esenboğa Twr: Harmony siz three one two, you are cleared to land, number two for landing, follow the aircraft on the runway.

We followed, followed and followed.Time was 08:53 and Cessna didn’t want to turn to a taxi way. ATC was asking gently at first time but he couldn’t keep his anger and started shouting to make Cessna turn to the taxi way. When Cessna decided to turn a taxi way  we assigned to Go Around. We were trying to keep our anger low whle we were tuning our Com1 to Esenboğa Approach. After a 20 minutes delay we were able to land at runway 3R. Time was 09:10 when we touch down to runway. We requested taxi to gate. After 4 minutes we were at the gate 3 at Esenboğa Airport. We shut down the engines and opened the doors.Passengers were smiling anyhow...

The interesting thing in this flight that, it was my 100th hour of my virtual aviation career. More interesting thing the touch-down time is my 100th hour. That was really nice...

Nice story, I really enjoy flying in Turkey, you could make this into an EHM story for the library, add in a few pics and voila. You can check the library to see some that are already on.

Cheers,

Alex;)

Yeah thanks for idea Alex. It is possible but I haven't taken any pictures because I only realized that I have flown th 100th hour only after I have landed.

Is it counted as a cheat if I take some pictures and add it to story... :)

Take care.

Many loves.

Emre.
