Well for a start, which network are you talking about here?

Are you using a program such as IvAe or ServInfo to see if there is any traffic at the airport you're flying at?

Have you installed the MTL/CSL?

Have you installed FSInn/IvAp/SB3 correctly?

If you fly online, the traffic is very low at many cases. Online you do not see any AI aircrafts, only those that are use the network, and flown by real world players. If you selected an airport which has low traffic in that period it may happen that you do not see anybody else ;)

You can use these applications to check out, who is online and where there are flying. Also if there is ATC coverage in the area you want to fly in.

ServInfo - I dont know if this has support for IVAO, now when they have changed domain name
Eye of IVAO - IVAO, does the same thing basically. Though has pretty nice feature of loading a real world map and it can simulate the sun coverage (hard to explain, but looks good :) )

Have you installed the CSL (Common Shape Library)? If you haven't, then you would see no traffic.

One further thing you might want to try is installing AIBridge (v2.4 if you run FS2002, v3 if you run FS2004) It injects online traffic back into the FS AI tables using facilities in FSUIPC. SB doesn't always do this so well (authors' words, not mine), but since we started using IVAP on IVAO I've not needed to use AIBridge at all.

Unfortunately, the website of the gentleman that writes this excellent piece of software has been suspended. [strike]I'm going to trawl my harddrives to see if I have a copy of v3, but please don't hold out for me finding it...[/strike]

EDIT: Well blow me, found a copy of the zip for the most recent V3. [ Link to download ]
