MSFS ATC is dangerous
« on: December 05, 2005, 04:49:46 pm »
On an approach into EGCC (Manchester) in poor visability, I was allocated runway 24L, this runway has no ILS so I requested 24R, my instructions were to approach 24L then sidestep to 24R, this was fine until I approached minimums to find that ATC had allowed an aircraft to line up on the runway right in front of me, this initiated a rapid avoidence and go around (not funny). It appears that once a runway has been initially allocated ATC continue to believe that that is the runway you will land on, even after clearing you to land on the parallel runway. This can also happen at LEMD (Madrid) on runway 36L.

Keep your eyes open.:@

Hi Bruce

that is the reason why I am flying online as often as i can. The MSFS ATC and the virtual pilots in MSFS are realy dangerous. The worst thing which happend to me was near EDDT. I flew with a Beech Baron 58 and I was on an IFR flight to EDDT on the final approach ( I was cleared to land about 5nm befor the airport ) a 737 400 appears behind but I did not know. About a seconds later it flew about 10ft over me my beech was shacked and it crashed into a building.

yep, i was landing at EHAM in Amsterdam, and i was cleared for landing, and i was slightly high and saw a MD-80 flying under me ready to land on the runway. Even though i had been told that i was cleared to land i was then told to go around. After allready spending a while in hold.

Online or Radar Contact 4 is the way to go. The ATC in MSFS is very unrealistic at times. They say the ATC in MSFS X will be MUCH better.

I use AI-Smooth, a little "background" utility that handle AI traffic and clears the path in front of me. Anyway, I used to simply overtake the nasty AI planes so they would get the Go-around command ;)

something like that happened to me at Fehrihegy LHBP sometime ago, too.

As I had been approaching the runway (can“t exactly remember which) in our A330 and had almost established the localizer for ILS,as a 747-400 overtook me and "dived" only some hundred feet in front of me trough my glideslope.

My manouvers to avoid that crash cost me a penalty for exceeding maximum vertical speed.

But luckily no one gut injured, only the ATC - controller might have suffered an ear - damage from my swar words :]

Well MSFS-ATC cost me already some crashes in PP so i would not call it Artificial Intelligent but Artificial Stupidity instead. Now when i'm on final and there is/are plane(s) close to me and on the same track i'll set traffic to 0(zero). Not verry realistic, but more reallistic than some Kamikazi-pilots trying to overtake you on the glide-path

Well one this is AI aircrafts that overtake you. I had a more bizar thing happen to me. I had just landed and was rolling down the runway. I was in a GA aircraft so it must have been on a tour. I knew there was 737 behind me. He was told to go-around, but instead he landed right in front of me. I could allmost hear the wheels was just about to hit me when he came down. Do anybody think I yelled at the ATC, and wrote a complaint to the other airline. So I agree MSFS ATC is sometimes very dangerous

similar experience here except during takeoff.i was cleared to takeoff  and a 737 was also cleared to land on the same runway.luckily,i was able to roll down the runway and into the sky a few seconds after he landed.in the outside view, when i looked behind and my face went :o
