March fly-in event
« on: March 20, 2006, 12:16:46 pm »
EDIT: This is the "official" discussion thread for this event now.

To celebrate the opening of EuroHarmony's first continental US hub, you're invited to make use of an EHM-provided ATC team on the evening of the 24th March! Make any flight to/from KATL (between 1930Z and 2130Z) and receive ATC from EuroHarmony team members.

We're recommending short "local" flights - Atlanta/Chicago, Atlanta/Miami, Atlanta/New York (or the reciprocals) but it's entirely up to pilots to make the choice. So, come along and make use of the side of EHM we try to keep quiet about... ;D

Your ATC team will be:
  • GND - Christian Bakke (EHM-1651)
  • TWR - Murray Crane (EHM-0654)
  • APP - Ben Horsfall (EHM-1365)
  • CTR - Sven Porschmann (EHM-1760)

Thanks Christian, I'll pencil you in for ground. Any other takers for ATC positions - I'm happy to vacate TWR as well (it'd allow me to OBS tower in IvAi for screenshoting purposes).

Kendy/Gergely - either of you feel like taking on CTR on Friday evening?

If you all think of a better day, feel free to change it.

Laterr is better for me. I don't get back until 2130Z at best. This is probably too late for our European cousins.

The US FRAs seem quite low (C1 unless otherwise for CTR... etc...)

Iain, that's probably a little too late (I was thinking 2000Z-2100Z maybe...) We could always re-run the event on the Sunday morning a week hence... ;D

Thanks Sven, you're pencilled in as CTR. List is currently:-

GND - Christian Bakke
TWR - Me (Murray Crane)
APP - Ben Horsfall
CTR - Sven Porschmann

For sectorfiles, best I can offer is the IVAO sectorfile creator, as for charts, we still have the chartpack I built for the first long flight event.

I have a Sectorfile for the KZTL created by the sector file creator and it has some SIDs and an STARs but not all for KATL. But a friend of mine will configure a Vatsim sectorfile for us. I hope I have it before 24. and that it is a bit better.

If it's the one from VATSIM KZTL ARTCC, I've just finished re-jigging it for IvAc use myself (warning, *BIG* sectorfile, but it works for all facilities in the KZTL ARTCC, and has KATL GND details on it). Download link->(download) and from the same VATSIM ARTCC we get (a great aliases file) as well... now if only IVAO and VATSIM could get along well enough to use the same sector file format...

Rico, this one has a load of SID/STARs - have a look if it has what you're after...

Not as "high-res" as I've become used to (and built for myself...) but all the *actual* SID/STARs I've looked at in that sector seem correct (I've flown both DAWGS and MUNSN, and the sector shows them correctly, if a little squared off)...

Be warned, this *is* a VATSIM sector and as such contains lots of additional airspace/facility things in the SID/STAR "section" that will be entirely meaningless on IVAO. It also has some information in it that IvAc basically ignores (just looking at all the files ASRC uses, there are a few things in it that I'd love IvAc to do...)

Not as such, no... But I have added SID/STARs to other peoples sectorfiles before now... It's actually fairly easy - getting LAT/LONG into decimal tends to be the difficult job.

Argh!! Isn't it always the way!!!

My employer has a new software release going "out the door" today. I may arrive a little late (can't be sure, it was supposed to be out already but...)

I think you are afraid of my emergency procedures, Murray ;D ;D ...
