Fs problems

Hi there fellow pilots! =)

I have some problems with my FS2004 and wonder if you recognize it... it's like this, everything works out real fine until ut suddently just shut it self down, without any message or anything. And it does like this with out any notification. I can be in cruise and just sit back in my chair and watch the gauges, and bam, it shuts down :/ I've tried to reinstall it, but i wont help. it's really annoying to have to log in at IVAO again and explain to the controller just to fly an half hour more until it shuts down again... =/ do you have some tips to me ? ;) it would be very apprichiated :D

Hope to see you in the sky agian soon, with out FS probs!

Hi Daniel,

Does the program crash to the desktop or does the PC shutdown? If your PC shuts down then I would suggest hardware problem, I had this happen to me last week and cleaning my fans inside the PC cured it as my CPU was overheating. If you have any software that comes with your motherboard, it may be worth checking your CPU and GPU temps.

Otherwise, it is probably a software fault and could be anywhere.... The only real cure is reformatting and starting from scratch if you cant find what is curing it.... Maybe try rolling back your PC to a date before it started happening????

Does this only happen when you are flying online? Also how much ram do you have in the pc?

Dan,

Reformat as a last resort only! How long has it been happening? It may be your new RAM sticks, can you try switching to your old config before you installed the RAM? Have you installed any other addons that maybe you can try uninstalling first?

Another thing, you said that you have tried reinstalling FS. Did you uninstall and remove or rename the FS folder. I can remember I had a problem some time last year. I tried uninstall and reinstalling but that didn't change anything. So I tried once more uninstall, rename the FS folder and then reinstall again. That worked like a charm. So I figured out that the problem had to be somewhere among the files that isn't removed during the uninstall

Also remember to install or reinstall the FS9 patch.Without the patch there are certain areas where you will get  a CTD without warning something to do with seasons. One of the things the patch was designed to fix was this problem, and it works to.I used to get a CTD at exactly the same spot in a flight to Frankfurt and it drove me mad i could not work out why.Anyway reinstalled the patch(had forgotten to)and the problem went away no more crashes.
cheers Andy

oh, so you think it's the update from microsoft that causes it? in that case i'll try to reinstall and don't use the update :)

It's sound like you have installed something that makes your flightsim do that. I had a problem the other day where my fs close down when i pressed fly now. I knew the that it worked the day before and the only thing I had installed was a new panel. So I tried removing that, and then my fs work again.
So my advise to you is only install a few things at the time and make a note of what you install. Then try and see if the fs still work as it should and then you can install a few thing more, and then test again.

Hi Daniel,

really ennoying  these CTDs - I have them sometimes and hate them. Allways difficult to say what causes them.

The 9.1 Patch is definetly not the  problem - you should install it by all means.

Which addons do you use (Sceneries, additional tools, Addon planes)?

Do you use a wether tool like Active Sky? I experienced some problems with it under certain circumstances.

A simple reason may be that the CPU or the GPU become to warm. Simply switch off the heating and try it afterwards once more.

If it works, buy yourself a warm hat and coat :) no, then you have to improve your cooling system.

Good luck!

oh, now the computer has gone totaly crazy! now it shut it self down and reboot sometimes, and sometimes it goes to the desktop with a message that says there were a problem. and some other times there it goes to the desktop without any message. but it seemes like it could be the CPU that overheats maybe...

and Karsten i've encountered that thing too today. when i installed the new Fokker 70, it shut it self down when i pressed the flyg now button..

but i changed the panel and it worked... but for the moment i don't have any add ons except the EuroHarmony fleet and FsPassenger installed.  but like Philip said before, because the computer reboots now, it should be a harware problem, isn't it?

thanx you guys!

Well it sounds like it, and that can be a real pain in ***. Because it can be just one thing and it can be a bunch of things. But there are a real good chance it's the CPU, but it can also be a problem with the RAM like Philip said. And perhaps it your PSU (power supply) that starting to have problems.
