Snow

For people that don't know, there are severe snow problems here, from Scotland, to Cornwall, worst place to be is Nottingham, which is close to Birmingham (hurrah). I've recorded the amount of snow near my house, each hour, and the largest amount was 5pm today, at 25cm (approx. 9.8in)!!

Birmingham Airport (EGBB) is completely closed, East Midlands Airport (EGNX) is closed, and so is Coventry Airport (EGBE). All Outbounds have been cancelled, and all inbounds are being diverted. Due to severe Weather other than Birmingham, other airports are struggling, and are cancelling flights, so Diverted Flights are tricky to find a place to land.

Most Busses and Trains have been cancelled, the Motorways have "slush" ice, and is almost impossible to drive on. People have decided to stay in hotels rather than go home. Most A roads have slush ice too, and small roads (such as the road I live on) are impossible to drive on. My road is on a hill, and one car slid down the hill earlier today, and onto a junction. Luckily, nobody was harmed.

My dad had to go to work today, and his job is about 1 mile away. He finished work at 4, and it's now 6:45, and he still hasn't got home. He's had to stay in a pub (to his delight!).

But, that's how things are in Birmingham. I can tell you these facts from my own knowledge, such as the amount of snow. For other info on the rest of the UK, I've had to look up BBC news, which has disappointing Information.

That's all I can say about Birmingham, which at the moment is the worst spot to be. Later on, it's going up North though. Could anybody give any info. on what it's like where they are?

What is the problem with this snow? Drving a car in 25cm snow isn't that big deal,  ENTC Tromsø got about 35cm of snow last night and was only closed between 0400Z to 1000Z to regain normal operations...

@Christian: That's probably because you live in Norway. Norway is used to this (as I could tell when I went on my holiday there!) so Norwegians have ways to get around it. All Britain is used to is Rain:] We're not prepared for this type of weather, because it never happens. Imagine if Norway suddenly became 20 degrees Celsius.

@Razza: Good luck! I'll make sure the snow stays here for another day!

I drive a 44 Ton Lorry for a living, only home weekends. The snow around Nottingham was awful. I must admit, I was pleased to arrive home to Cornwall. Lets hope next week is better.
