New Flight Tour Ideas
« on: March 10, 2007, 03:17:48 pm »
Hello all,

As I'm doing quite a lot of road cycling, and because the Pro Cycling Season is starting again, I've tought about an idea of new VFR Tour which could be following the 3 main Pro Cycling Races which are the Tour de France, Spain Tour and Italian Giro.

Each of those Cycling Tour has around 21 legs (3 weeks long), and doing a VFR Tour for each of them can allow to flight in France, Spain and Italy.

Those tour could be organized as Events happening at the same time as the real Cycling Races.

What do you think about this one ?

Cheers
Kristoff

Hmm....helicopter tours maybe? The legs wouldn't be that long I guess, so maybe helicopters could do? That would be something new.

I'm thinking about suggesting an update for the Tour of Sweden. I have found several of the old sceneries to be outdated when it comes to FS2004, and I have found many new really good ones instead. Today the tour is 10 short legs, but I don't think I would have a problem making it into 15-20 legs with great scenery to download for each destination.

OK... I understand your point. So what about the "tour de France" by plane, happening every year ?

I think that´s a good idea, Christoph !
For Italy there are many photoscenerys (freeware) also for Spain an for France I could recomend the Alps of VFR France.
So we could make this tours together as an event !:]

Greetings
Franz

This is indeed a good idea, a race is not such a good idea but the idea can be done if flying with a chopper. If I join the race I am sure  you guys can come round me with ropes and tug me out .... or lift me out after the crash. Helicopters is one thing I havent learned to play with the keyboard as yet. Even with a joystick it was scary!!! Kudos to sim helicopter pilots and also the real guys out there in the sky!!

I post this not as an MT, but as a member (so it's just my opinion...)

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes (everyone understand now ;D)

Some of the membership will know I am a huge cycling fan, so I'd love to see a UCI-themed tour/event.

Murray,

Good to read that you are a Pro-Cycling fan. Do you practice as well ? I'm doing so quite a lot as well as flying for Euroharmony ;D

ah, my sport is rowing, not cycling, so my vote is no.

j/k! I think it's a great idea!
