Quick update (I should really read the announcement before posting this, but...) the script that sends the email runs once a day, hopefully at midnight GMT. So if I add you to the list, don't expect the email immediately ;)

@Jaap - added.

I'd just like to ask does it have an explanation of following NDB's and VOR's? Reason I ask is because I learnt these with Rod Machado, and well, you see my point!

if so, please send me one!

@Miguel/Trevor: Done. Expect your first late tomorrow night.

@Matt: I'll defer the answer to Dominic, he wrote the course, I just the delivery mechanism. I've not added you to the reception list yet, just in case.

Matt (& others),

The course is designed primarily to explain the real basics to a new pilot and then point them in the direction of more detailed info on the Web, so the e-mails don't cover radio navigation aids in themselves.

They were purely written to help newbies learn a basic level of skills so they can become part of our community quickly ;) (So the experienced pilots among you who've asked for them may find the content quite basic... )

However Matt, although Rod Machado may not be everyone's cup of tea, don't let him put you off using the FS Ground School and Learning Centre as the info you need is contained in there and it is pretty well explained.

If you really can't get what you want out of those sources a really good overall FS navigation guide is at:

http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/index.htm

and this goes into a lot of detail about all the radio navigation aids.

There's also a link in the e-mail course to the FAA's free Pilot Manuals which cover most aviation subjects at:

http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviation/

Hope that helps.

Oh, and thanks to everyone that noticed the error in the sending script (not a one of you! ;D)

You should all find that the dates on the emails will now be somewhat sensible as opposed what they have been up to now.

Hi! Just read the last e-mail! They're great and a reminder of some basics you sometimes might forget and I believe they'll be really helpful for newbies.. I just found out one thing you might wanna change on the last e-mail. Shouldn't it be www.ivao.aero instead of www.ivao.org?
Anyways great tool to newbies and great reminder for those who already know how to work around a plane...
Thank you guys!

Good spot there Miguel, I'll fix that ASAP.

EDIT: All fixed. I'm just ashamed that none of us in the MT noticed during the "development" phase :$

Oh, and FYI, this is just "version 1.0"... I'm already hard at work on expanding this mechanism out for other "opt-in" mailshots.
